How can one differentiate from Fybromialgia and Arachnoiditis? Every time I ask a doctor they cannot answer either... it is a widespread pain all over... Arachnoiditis is many times caused by childbirth botched epidurals and spinal
Anesthetics... and botched spinal
Surgeries... and the cause is always iatrogenic in most cases... did anyone ask this question and rule
Out Adhesive Arachnoiditis before agreeing with Fybromialgia?

Many people have MRI or cat scans as part of diagnosis. Also clinical history and presentation would be key. But I world presume csr and erp would show the inflammation which world help rule it out.
Good morning, nice to meet you I am sorry I have never heard of Arachnoiditis before so can't really comment.
But I would just like to give you the heads up on locking your posts for privacy reasons. I see your post is unlocked. You do tend to get more replies if you lock your post
If you wish to lock your post this link will show you how.
I have an Arachnoid cyst apparently, I only found out last year after an MRI scan for other problems, the consultant said it had probably been there since birth. I am in the same situation as you, a lot of the symptoms are the same so you wouldn't know which one it is, I choose to just go with fibro because that is what has been diagnosed, and I really can't be bothered going through all the hospital visits again. I hope you get it resolved, trying to get answers is pain all of it's own x
I am surprised that a doctor could not answer you. Arachnoiditis is an inflammatory condition with corresponding secondary symptoms which would be different to those of fibromyalgia. Yes there can be similarities to symptoms such as pain but Arachnoiditis is a inflammation of the membrane surrounding the spinal column and a defined condition in its own right.
("Botched")There is no comparison, Adhesive Arachnoiditis is inflamation of one of the 3 layers "mingies" that surround the brain and spinal cord. The nerve roots stick to each other like melted spagittie. That clump that is formed stops the spinal fluid from traveling down your Dura and in return you can't get rid of the toxins in your spinal canal. We make 22 onces of spinal fluid in a 25 hour time period. It is suppose to travel down your spine 3 times in a 24 hours period, when the nerve roots are melted together the process can not happen. So your brain sweals putting a lot of pressure in the brain and effecting your vision, hearing etc. Fibro does not do anything close to that. ("So there is NO Comparison between the two at all"). Yo you may have pain all over your body but you have your hormones, you don't have Neuro Toxins running through your system 24/7
If you would like to know even more just let me know. I just wanted to reply because it is not something that is just something from anything botched. Anything that gets in or around your Arachnoid layer is Neuro Toxic to your spinal fluid including your own Blood!!! The big problems with trying to treat AA is that you have to have medications that will break the Blood Brain Barrier. That is not easy to do so we are doing studies on a constant basis. It is just way to important to try and compare it to Fibro sense AA can kill you. It can shut down your addrenal gland and you can die from addrensl failure, also stops you from making hormones line you should and in return kill you. There are many more things it does also but I am trying to keep this short but get the point out there so people can get the true story about what they may be dealing with, they don't call it Suicidal Pain 24/7 for nothing or because it's like Fibro!!! We should all try a our best when we reply to something to know what we are talking about human life is very presious to just throw something out there.
