Hi. I am receiving ESA & was recently awarded PIP. I don’t need another PIP assessment for another 4 years. However when I had my ESA assessment, which was before PIP, I was told yearly assessments. I’m coming up on a year now. Will I have to have another assessment now I have PIP & would it be likely I lose my ESA because I have PIP. I do hope this makes sense. Sam xxx

The award of PIP is completely separate from ESA. PIP is awarded to help you attain equality with your peers, in respect of your disability. ESA is Earnings Support Allowance; that is , it is to compensate you for loss of earnings while you are unfit to work, and to give you enough money to exist on and pay your normal household bills and food. If anything the fact that you have been awarded PIP should help you to establish that you are unfit to work.
Its employment and support allowance and its paid to anyone claiming due to sickness related conditions. You dont have to be in or have been in employment to get ESA. It's not actually anything to do with compensating for loss of earnings. Just hope this clears it up as people could be confused as to who/why people snd claim ESA.
Ooo Will need to check as I can’t remember. Brain fog. Thank you for your reply xxx
Hi Hidden ,
I am on contribution based ESA and just got support group after a F2F assessment. So, from January 2019, I am 8 months in to my first year. Award letter said ‘through November19’. What happens at November19? Any idea what to expect? New to the process.
Thank you!

Thank you for all the thoughts. I can ring them but, just to vent for a moment: the hold music assaults my sensory processing issues! Ugg!
Will need to though..
thank you again, Harmony2
