Hi everyone, not posted for sometime but do read posts when I get the chance. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem I’m suffering from and if so could you please give me some advice about what I can do. I’ve been a fibromyalgia sufferer for 2 years+ now (officially but much longer than that before i was diagnosed),
I keep getting server pain in my breast bone and my ribs , they feel as though they are being ripped apart. This has been going on for months now but last night it was so bad I had to take 3 off my morphine pills to even reduce the pain and give me a chance to get a little sleep, which also meant I slept sat up. I am reasonably tough about some of my pain but not last night , I wanted to die, so if anyone knows what it means I would really appreciate help.
Thanks for reading and hopefully giving me some advice.

Hi there, i would advise you let your GP know your in so much pain. In the mean time you may like to Google up costochondritis. It something that many fibro people seem to suffer with even though it is a stand alone pain problem. I hope this helps you
If this is a new pain for you and as it is in the chest area like Dizzytwo says best to get it checked out. I have costochondritis as part of my fibro symptoms and I get this. The area is so tender that the only slighty comfortable position I can get into if it is in flare mode is sitting up propped up on two normal pillows and a triangular one. Even touching the area is a no no and I can find even water from a shower going on it painful. I have found a bit of relief with gently smoothing freeze gel over the area and if you can take them ibuprophen can help a little, I do hope it eases soon for you.x
Please see your doctor. We fibro folk tend to play the blame game and put everything down to fibro, but sometimes it isn't. I neglected seeing GP for shoulder pain thinking it was just fibro - it wasn't it was calcific tendonitis. Same with ankle pain again wasn't fibro it was detatched ligament and tendon which required surgery. Do hope you get some relief soon.
I’d see your GP but it sounds like costochondritis. I find it’s the worst of the fibro pain. Try heat—- I put a hot water bottle on my chest and sit against cushions or pillows with another hot water bottle on my back. Relaxation helps, look at YouTube for guided meditation.
