Duloxetine causing insomnia

How long should I persevere with Duloxetine? How long does it take for side-effects to wear off? I’m only on day three but I’ve had severe insomnia for the past two nights. It’s not something I normally struggle with. I can tolerate the sweating and the nausea, but I don’t know how long I can cope with not sleeping.

I stuck with it for three weeks but unfortunately the persistent headache which meant had no rest, the nausea and all round yuck feeling seemed to be getting worse by the day so chose to stop. If possible I always give a new drug two weeks as I felt awful when I first started taking cocodamal and could barely lift my head from the pillow but as it was helping the pain I persevered and the side effects diminished quite rapidly after the two weeks. I have actually come to the conclusion that antidepressants don't suit me as I have tried three and each have had their own set of side effects which were intolerable. I personally would give it longer unless you start to feel worse.x

Thank you, I had the same years ago with Citalopram, but the insomnia settled down after a few days. I can't find anything conclusive about insomnia with Duloxetine. Not experiencing benefits yet, but the GP said I probably wouldn't on a low starting dose. I'm only on 20mg twice a day

I would suggest two weeks, unless you start to feel even more unwell. I started on 60mg per day, and it took a good two weeks to settle and start to feel the benefit. Good luck

Thank you all. I’m meant to take 20mg twice a day but I’m wondering if it might be ok to take it all in one dose on the morning. Might avoid some of the overnight effects?

Hi

Maybe speak with your GP about taking it all in go . I hope you feel better soon. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
