Work
Hi dottielotti, yes. I had to have 7 weeks off recently but eventually had to find a way to go back. Worked with HR and in theory I was meant to be given the freedom to work full days when I could but have a long break in the day to accommodate a sleep
If needed, but sadly the work just piled in at the same rate so felt obliged to plough on. When fibrofog hits I try and avoid having to make really key decisions, but I am afraid I don’t have any easy answer for you. I am still trying to learn to say NO, but is something I need to have more practice at!!
Hope you find a path through that works for you.
Hi, I was/am. Ended up with a lot of time off last year so I took the decision to find another job that was part time which I have been doing since November last year but sometimes even that is bad enough! I find the days I work I don’t do anything else afterwards and I relax on sofa and sometimes fall asleep.
Are you full time? Is the job you do can it be shared out to others a bit so you can maybe reduce your hours or maybe ask if they can send you to occupational health to see if they come up with any suggestions to help you? X
Hi Peanut585, wasn’t sure if you were asking me or dottilotti, but ironically I was only thinking at the end of last week that I will have to delegate some of the tasks that others would be able to do..... is also a development opportunity for others too so could be a win win!
Occ health isn’t an option at the moment as have had a whole host of new symptoms since December and it is looking possible that there is something else over and above the Fibro that is playing with my body now so I am seeing a rheumatologist on Tuesday to have a good delve into what the heck is going on and if there are any answers! I am not naive enough to think I will have all the answers in one appt, but so far docs at my local hospital are totally stumped.
Occ health apparently can only help once they know what they are working with to be able to make recommendations! Bit of a catch 22!!
Sorry to hear you have also had to make some difficult decisions and hope they are working out for you.
Hi, sounds good for you and like you say it’s a win win!
Sorry to hear you got new symptoms, hopefully rheumatologist can help. I’m seeing rheumatologist Monday. Saw her August last year but my GP had me on steroids which rheumatologist didn’t agree with and I slowly came off them and been off for awhile now and rheumatologist wanted to see me once off. So will see what difference it makes to rheumatologist.
Occupational health didn’t help me in full time job but then again I think the company were hoping she would say I wasn’t fit to work there! So they were happy when I handed in my notice. However part time job is more active and I am suffering.
If you are struggling maybe a request for an occupational health assessment would help. I had one, against my wishes, but have to say it was the best thing that could have happened. That was a couple of years ago and since then I haven't had any time off sick. The "reasonable adjustments" included different chair, handrails, different uniform (I cant do buttons or anything over head or synthetic fabrics) car parking space nearer work, change in hours etc. Made all the difference to me. Some of the suggestions took negotiation as employers have to consider the needs of the business too. Worth a try if you are having difficulties.
Hi Dottie Lotti I have my OH appt Fri as work have relocated me to an office further away which has resulted in my legs n hips being sorer. If they tell me they can get taxis then I'm seriously considering it.
currently work full time but don't do much after it as totally floored.
Hope you're well
are you in UK?????
Yes and I’m self employed, so it’s harx to get the support xxx
