in what way? Perhaps you are thinking of sjogren's?
Not really. I have noticed a few comments about having trouble eating and swallowing etc. and I have a problem that my oesophagus is eroding and I was interested to know whether Fibro causes these problems or it is just a coincidence
It’s strange you say this as I have fibromyalgia hyper sensitivity. And I also have trouble swallowing food. And it’s also getting to the point know that even drinking sometimes is an issue. Almost feels as if it gets stuck in my chest.
it does seem that there are many people who have fibro have problems with swallowing. you might check out achelasia which is issues related to swallowing problems. the person who manages the website has fibromyalgia. she is a terrific person and wonderful source of information. i think she lives in l.a., california.
I thought it was just me, but sometimes I have times of choking on my saliva, it's quite frightening as I can't breathe due to obstacle in windpipe. Indigestion, reflux, yes I experience these too. Wishing you well
I get the choking on slip too. My eyes waterand I am coughing too
Do your have trouble in swallowing, and loss of voice as well? I have both with Fibromyalgia.
Hi, I suffer with swallowing too, I either can’t swallow at all (which scares me) or choke on nothing. I also get a hoarse voice and really dry mouth at times too, my doctor isn’t concerned which is good but it is so frustrating.
Thanks to everyone who replied - maybe it is sad but it is comforting to know that I am not suffering along. I did get 2 responses that could explain it
1. Both problems are the consequence of dysautonomia, meaning the disturbance in functioning of autonomous nervous system.
2. You might check out achalasia
I suppose it is logical that it could be a muscular problem or is Fibro once again 'the gift that keeps giving !
Thanks everyone - have a good weekend
If you are taking anti inflammatories it could be a side effect of that, or a separate diagnosis. I have bother myself with my oesophagus. Diet can change that if it is reflux.
I had problems 12 years ago from taking Diclofenac for over 7 years which caused stomach problems. I am just trying to find to differentiate between what is Fibro and what is a different problem so maybe I can help alleviate them. I can now only eat what my stomach and oesophagus will accept and this is getting very limited. Thanks for your reply
