Advice!

Hi, my partner has just been diagnosed with PV, it was a shock as we had never heard of it before. He went to the doctors with Itchy legs after having a shower, his blood showed up really high white blood count, he has had an x-ray,which was clear, and has now to go for a bone marrow biopsy. The Consultant said his red, white and platelets were very rich (sludgy). He has now started on daily Asprin. I am looking for someone that maybe able to advise or put my mind at rest as I am really worried. Xx

If it's Polycythemia Vera then you will probably do better on another Hu forum. Perhaps one to do with cancer?

Polycythemia Vera --- if it is this, I know someone who's lived with this condition for many years. He finds it tedious, involves plenty of dr visits and treatments but none the less he and his wife have very active lives and get out to do things a lot.

I would wait until it's confirmed and you have the whole picture from a doctor, then find support and information online.

It must have been a shock for both of you and not knowing what you're dealing with is scary but once you've got the whole picture, you'll know what you're dealing with.
