Hi everyone, just was curious and wanted to see how other people manage their symptoms on a daily basis (not medications!) as I’m currently on a cycle of doom. I do physio for my spine problems and in a few months should start hydrotherapy too, and have a light exercise program (I used to be very active!). But I realized I don’t have many day-to-day strategies so wanted to see what others do to help them, anything at all!!

Strategies
For me it's pacing, pacing and more pacing!! As soon as I overdo it I will get a flare up
Hi there, after 30+years of struggling to cope with fibro I no longer have any strategies. Each day can be so different I just take each day as it comes. I treat each symptom has it raises it's ugly head. For me it is less frustrating this way. My go to aids are my hot bottle, gel packs in the freezer and my tens machine. I can't take medication but when my pain reaches 10 plus I take a couple of otc ibuprofen and a small dose of muscles relaxant. I guess we all do what we feel works for us. But it's good to hear how others cope xx

Just treating myself gently and not doing too much on a good day, and resting on a bad day.
Sometimes a warm wheatbag helps, and gentle yoga stretching,. I also go for a massage from time to time. I try not to take too many pain relief pills as my body seems to get used to them, and then they don’t work as well.
I have joined the leisure centre and attend 'sit down' exercise classes which involve stretches and gentle movement. It does help with pain. Sometimes I over do it and need to rest up. Its about finding the balance. Also I have discovered a local floatation bath which totally relaxes your body and I feel amazing for days afterwards. Other days no matter what I do or don't I just hurt all over and have to sleep.
