Goodbye Pregabalin !!!

Hello all, I just thought that I'd tell you that after my docs appointment yesterday, I am going to wean myself off the Pregabalin. After the chat on here the other day with you all, I talked to the my lovely doctor about lowering my dose. I told him that I am sick of having this whizzy feeling in my head all of the time and feeling sleepy. He agreed that to slowly lower the dose would be of benefit to me . So I am now on 300mg in the morning, and down to 150mg at night instead of 300mg.

I know it will take some time, but I am going to do it. Then I will start getting lower on the Tramodol . I've been thinking about doing this for some time now, so , at last , I'm doing it !!

Also , I started on HRT !! I hope that will help with the painful joints instead. I feel that at the age I'm at now, I need to change the chemical input of my body. I've been on these cocktails [ not alcoholic ones ,ha ha ] for too long now, and feel my body has become immune to them. So eventually, I Iwill start from scratch again, and maybe just ibuprofen and paracetamol will work on their own ??? Who knows ??

Just thought I'd share my new pill plan with you all . I'll keep you updated about how the HRT is going.

Anyway, have a lovely day all..... and Mo ,if you are there, what time for the cakes !!!

Luv Mandy xxxx

Sounds like you and I are going down the same pathway fluff26 I have recently started HRT again, I take tramadol 50 with paracetamol for my fibro and OA, taking inbuprofen you need to protect your gullett and stomach these pills can strip the lining-maybe ask doc for some omeprazole if you are not already on them, like you I tried pregab abd gabapent- oMG horrid.

Good luck. I'm currently doing same with pregabalin and other than a few rough weeks at the start I've not had too many problems. Slight increase in pain levels but I'm managing them so far.

Thanks ladies for your support, I am on Omeprazole , and take 2x 50mg Tramodol daily. also 3x400mg Ibuprofen. along with 6x 30mg/500mg co-codamol. So you can see why I want to come down from all this. They don't seem to do much for the pain anymore. Fed up pill poppin' !! Hope the HRT will help though , my other half will be pleased if they stop all the mood swings [moody mare !!] ha ha.

Will give it a go ,eh. luv Mandy xx

Congratulations Mandy that is really amazing!

I came off all of my tablets slowly starting from january and actually took my last prescription tablets in May, the pain has got worse but in myself I feel so much better and was definitively the right decision for me! I now only take ibuprofen and paracetamol together and this combats most of the pain if used with epsom salts, TENS machine and magnesium spray!

♥️♥️

Hi darling.. I have done a message to all a little below to thank all 4 the support

[ please read] I've never used Epsom salts before ?? I take it they go in the bath , and I haven't got to drink a gallon of the stuff !! ha ha xx[ they were talking about magnesium the other day on the radio] will try that too. xx

Ewww to drinking them haha!

Yes they go in the bath, a certain amount per amount of water. Apparently (please insert the science here) people with Fibro struggle to absorb magnesium orally and therefore using Epsom salts in the bath and absorbing through the skin can be really effective ♥️ ♥️

It's only when you come off medications that you sometimes realise how little they were actually helping. Xxx

Hi everyone , It is so lovely to hear that many of you have done the same concerning the meds. As there are sooo many in my system, I know I can't rush things, but knowing some friends have done it, I will persevere with it.

I don't feel on my own with the task ahead now. Lucky enough I can generally be quite upbeat about stuff[ unless it's a really sh*&$y day] .So onwards and upwards..[said one boob to the other !!] ha ha.

cheers me dears luv Mandy xxx

ps..hope the fish pie was yummy Yasmintina , and you are feeling better today. xx

I have done the same with the gabapentin. Found confusion and weight gain outweighed benefit of drug.

Hope you get on ok.I had to wean myself down at 25mg a day.first in morning for a week then in afternoon.trying 50mg a day was distaserous. Couldn't focus or walk and runny bowels.

I am now in alot more pain thou and consultant advised me to increase again which I did not after such a struggle reducing at another consultant's request.

Do take care
