I'd like to thank those who told me of their experiences with Pain Management Solutions. It seems to be a very hit and miss organisation. I just feel so angry about the way that many with severe pain are out on a limb when it comes to solid, sensible treatment !

I am with you on that one. It can be very frustrating to access and it is worse when you have waited many months and are dismissed with a leaflet and cd. Hopefully your experience will be a positive one.

Hi, I am currently on the 6 week course with them & can honestly say I am glad I got myself referred. Pls PM me if you would like more info. 😁

Thank you, my reason for asking was I've seen my GP on quite a lot of occasions to ask about other types of painkillers and he refuses to send me to a pain clinic, Pain Management Solutions. I'm made to feel like a nuisance. I'm just so frustrated by it All. I take Co-Codamol and Mitryptiline. It could very well be that there isn't anything better but I would like the opportunity to find out for myself. Thank you again for your kind reply.

Hi, there is a lot more help that you can get. I would suggest going to see a different gp and asking to be referred for the following:- 1) CBT & the course run by pain Mgt solutions 2) pain management clinic at your local hospital as they can give you the right pain relief. Look into lignocaine infusion, I have had 4 doses so far & it does help. Only we know our pain and how it affects us! Be very clear with your gp in your request & ask when the referrals will be actioned by. Hope this helps. X

Thank you so much .i'm changing my GP next week. He maintained that pain Management Solutions at my local hospital don't deal with medication but only with self help issues. Could you tell me what CBT is pleAse ? Thank you so much. You've been very helpful.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but is also useful for other mental and physical health problems. I shall get some contact info for you & send it you by Monday. It may be that you can self refer, leave it with me.
