Fyromyalgia sufferers
Hi Mumbev if you go to the change.org website there is already a petition up and running to get fibro recognised in parliament as a disability and also to gain better treatment and support for it. x
Hello Mumbev60 and a warm welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find help, support, advice and understanding, along with a giggle or two to lughten the day.
Our mother site fmauk.org has a lot of information about fibromyalgia, including guides and links.
The trouble with a petition recognising fibro as a disability is that fibro sufferers have different symptoms and problems. Some can work full time, run a home and family and have only occasional flares, whilst others are nearly bedridden, unable to work and need carers to help. Most of us fall somewhere in between, so I don't know where you would draw the line.
However, both the NHS and DWP recognise fibro as a chronic condition which varies in it's complexity. You can claim benefits if you are unable to work or need help with daily tasks.
Looking forward to seeing you around the forum
Kay
I agree it's been passed as a disability in America so why not in the uk
Hi Mumbev60 welcome to our wonderful forum ☺ I'm sure you will come to find the forum invaluable in chatting to others who are going through the same experience as you, talking to others at different stages of their lives with Fibro and learning from their experiences.
You don't mention if you have been diagnosed with fibro or awaiting a diagnosis, so it would be good to know a little bit about you.
As already mentioned my friend, their have been petitions and Fibromyalgia is recognized as a disibility but this is not relevant because it's about how your illness effects you because it effects everyone to varying degrees and very differently.
i Would also like to suggest you lock your post, for the purpose of your own safety healthunlocked.com/fibromya...
Peace, luv n light

Hi Mumbev60
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. There are quite a few petitions running at this time relating to Fibro, and it is to be recognised as a long term condition in northern Ireland. I have pasted you a link to the BBC News Service cache on this:

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Agreed 😊x
It's just been legally recognised as a permanent disability in Spain. I could have the country wrong.
Our government will only pass a law on it if it means punishing us and making us worse off unfortunately
