I hope you feel better soon. I had pain in upper left side docs told me it was because of my IBS. Apparently I was hum backed up so to speak.
Hi there.
I was in the same situation 5 years ago. I was experiencing pain usually focussed on my left side. Over 4 years I had a couple of MRI scans, referrals to different neurologists, physiotherapists and so many blood tests that I felt like a pin cushion. I was started on 10mg of Amitriptyline and this was increased to 100mg. It was only after 4 yeas I saw a neurologist who diagnosed fibromyalgia, whilst he gave me a diagnosis he was extremely unhelpful and dismissive.
The good news is that since then I researched and found a specialist near me, went to my GP armed with the name and asked to be referred. I was seen by him in May last year and that resulted in a referral to a sleep clinic, appointments for pain management and a change in my medication to Gabapentin.
Things have improved and whilst the pain is still there and it sometimes is a lot worse and sometimes much better; I feel that I have more knowledge, control and support. This website is excellent for not feeling isolated. It is hard work and it does require a lot of pushing doctors to keep referring you and research. Keep at it and you will hopefully get some results.
