Hi Beverlyd, sorry to hear that Elavil 50mg is giving you side effects while on them, and side effects trying to wean yourself off them.

Elavil is known in the UK as Amitriptyline, and it is a well prescribed off label drug for Fibromyalgia. There are people who find it works really well, and people who just can't tolerate it.

We are not Medics on this forum, so we can only speak from our own experiences. The safest thing for you to do is to see your Doctor and tell him/her what is happening, then they can advise you on the best way forward.

I wish you well in getting this sorted out promptly.

Regards

GP

Hi again, it is awful when you are withdrawing a drug that your body has become dependent on.

If I could suggest that while you wait to see your Dr. that you reduce the dose very gradually. That way your body doesn't get hit with a sudden withdrawal.

I do hope that you feel better soon, and that you can get sorted out with meds that suit you, and also help with pain.

Take care.

GP.

Have you thought that perhaps they might not be side effects? I don't wish to alarm you, but they could be something not connected to Elavil. That is why it's important that you speak to your Dr.

Hi Beverlyd

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read of your problems with Elavil, and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. In the UK there is an alternative drug called Nortriptyline which is a little more mild and has no sedative component. I do not know if it is available where you live? But it may be something to discuss with your Medical Specialist or doctor as if they deemed you suitable for this drug it would help stop the withdrawal of your Elavil.

Either way, I would inform your doctor of how you are feeling with the Elavil and see what they can do to help you. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
