Hi Jamel - yes, I've been on pregabalin for quite a while. It's a common med for fibro. It works to block the pain signals to the brain.
I'll tell you the side effects first - but that doesn't mean it isn't a good thing to take for fibro, so long as you use it wisely. It can make you feel very tired and can also lead to weight gain (no matter how much you try to diet!). In my case, I only take a small dose of it - 100mg at night and 25mg in the mornings. If I take more than that, I find I can't function during the day. I work part-time from home as an online tutor, so for me it's a trade-off between getting a little pain relief (though not a huge amount) and still being able to function. I'm sure if I took higher amounts (like the doctor wanted me to do) I'd have better pain relief, but then I'd probably be asleep all day!
I have had insomnia for several years so the fact that pregabalin helps me sleep is another plus point for me. It has made me overweight though - I just can't shift this weight no matter how much I try.
The other thing about it, if you do try it, is to start with a low dose and work up gradually. It can make you feel quite "spaced out" to start with. If you want to come off it at any point, you have to wean down slowly too. It's quite difficult to come off (but then so are most medicines they put us on for pain).
But it is a useful drug for pain management. You have to weigh up the pros and cons though! But then all pain drugs can have bad side effects so it's worth a try in my opinion.
Yes I tried it but was unable to take it as it made me swell up like a puffa fish 🐟 my feet were so swollen my toes disappeared and my face swelled so much I could barely see my entire body swelled up and all I could cover myself with was a sheet, my neighbour called an ambulance 🚑 and they gave me an injection 💉 and took me in to get me checked over but hospital released me within the hour even though I was still really swollen they told me to take antihistamines and my neighbour took me home, good luck 🍀 I hope that doesn't happen to you or anyone else as it was scary 😓
Fluffy xx
I have been taking Pregabalin for about 2 years. I have found it quite useful but unfortunately I have put weight on whilst taking this drug. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck if you are going to be taking it.
All my hopes and dreams for you

I was also taking Pregabalin, but my feet were so swollen I could hardly walk, and not only were they swollen they turned black & blue. I also had terribly pains in my chest and real night terror. I had gradually built up to 450mg, but my doctor has taken me off them completely now and I have to go back to the Rheumi. Since coming off of them the swelling has gone down but I now experience the most awful stabbing pains in my legs (it feels like it's in my actual bones), and I had hardly touch my legs as they so so painful.
