Medication: Hi does anybody take... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Medication
I take Naproxen as an anti inflammatory for Rheumatoid Arthritis, neuropathic pain is blocked more effectively with drugs such as pregabalin and gabapentin when they can be tolerated.
Hi fibroglow
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you are suffering and struggling so much with your sciatica, and I sincerely hope that you can find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.
I take Naproxen for my sciatic nerve compression. However, due to the fact that I have asthma and COPD, I am limited to the amount that I can take. Regardless of whether or not it triggers my asthma or COPD my GP rations the amount that I can have.
I have found that it does give me some relief, as it just takes the edge off the pain. However, I have found that my Pregabalin and Cocodamol works much better for me for this issue.
I have pasted you the NHS Choices link to their cache on sciatica and they also suggest NSAIDs:

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you

I take pregablin plus ropinorol and top it up with naproxin when it gets bad. It does help some. Can't dose up to the max or wouldn't be able to function.
Good luck.
I just have to add that anyone taking Naproxen regularly should be taking another medication to protect stomach, gut lining as it can and does cause ulcers and internal bleeding in a certain percentage of people. I only found out in the most dramatic way when my hubby suddenly whent white and cold.I rushed him to A&E where it became touch and go as he was bleeding internally and had to have urgent iv drugs and several units of blood. He was lucky ,very lucky and after two weeks on ward came home but cannot use anti inflammatory meds ahy more and on lansoperazole for life. The emergency doctors told us many people have this happen and some don't make it which is awful when all they need is to take a stomach protecting med along side the naproxen and be perfectly safe. The only symptoms my hubby had were a bit of nausea ,tiredness and lack of appetite, hard to tell the difference when suffering fibro, and was never warned of side effects to look out for or the risks by gp who just put them on regular repeat. Not wanting to scare people but wouldn't want anybody else to go through such an experience when a quick ask of gp for protective med to take along side naproxen will sort it out.
Just because I care.
Hi, I take Naproxen. It takes a little time to work but it is quite effective. It is was of the better non steroidals so worth a try. 500mg twice daily is the dose you'd need for your type of pain.
