Muscle Spasms!

Are neck muscle spasms a fibromyalgia condition? Woke up Thursday morning in agony went to g.p. who said it was a spasm and had nothing to do with fibro. Gave me muscle relaxers and sent me home. Thanks.x

I don't agree with your GP I get pain in my neck and spasams too Fibro is all over from tip to toe and that's a fact xx

Hello bvigari,

Muscle spasms are more common in a condition called Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) People can often have the condition alongside Fibro as I do.

Here is some information about MPS;

So, your GP in this sense may be correct that the spasms are not related to Fibro but whether you have Myofascial Pain Syndrome or this was just a one time thing I wouldn't like to say!

If you would like to read up on MPS and find you have similar symptoms you may feel like mentionig this to your GP as a possible cause. S/he may be able to help inform you as to whether they think this may be the case or not.

I also get muscle spasms with fibro, my doctor gives me diazapam , it helps me

I get muscle spasms in my back and recently, at the base of my neck and across the shoulders. My GP said it was the fibro. My life saver is diazepam , which at first he was reluctant to give me but no problem having them prescribed now.

I get spasms, esp in the hip area..

Someone on here mentioned bacloflen and I tried it. Worked wonders.

Somehow worked in CNS, and Dr was happy to do this instead of a sedating one. Good lucks
