Trazodone withAmitriptyline or Mirtazapine???

Wish me luck. I'm off to the GP. Have waited 3 weeks for this appointment, been getting by on sleeping pills but am so sore. This year has been all about trial but little error as i just dismissed every drug offered once i've read up on their side effects. Well, can't carry on like this.

PLAN A - I think I'm going to ask for a low dose of Amitriptyline to go with the 100mgs of Trazodone that I'm on in the hope it will make me sleep but the loss of appetite I have with Trazodone will counter the increase of appetite Amitriptyline gave me last time I was on it.- I CAN BUT HOPE!

PLAN B- is to ask for Mirtazapine as its an SNRI which is supposed to be better than SSRIs for Fibro.Some people mention weight gain with it too tho.

Fed up with this business just need to sleep!! Will keep you posted. NWG23

Hi NWG23.

My doctor prescribed mirtazapine a few months ago. it definetley helped. My symptoms were constant especially the palpitations. Mirtazapine definetly slowed the symptoms down. (only took it for 5 weeks) I am vegetarian and they were coated with gelatin which was a big issue for me but needs must. The main issue was the weight gain thing though. I asked the doctor to take me off them and now i just grin and bare it.

Just for reference after trying many different combinations of drugs Amitriptyline & Trazodone was/is the best combination for me. I hope whatever you decide upon will be right for you.
