Dear X,

Firstly see a good G.P. Claim disability and find a carer so you can claim for the carers benefit through centrelink. Ice cold baths are the best pain relief. I have them all the time, just don't let a draft come in while you are in a freezing bath. I use 2 bags of ice and stay in for half an hour at a time, this not only relieves my pain, but improves my fatigue. Good luck with everything. You could also get your G.P, to write referrals to pain clinic, if you don't mind waiting a year for an appointment. Or else you could go private, don't know your situation? Take strong pain meds prescribed by an understanding G.P. They really give you relief through the night so you can at least get some sleep. All the best. Shadycurt

Hi there, I realise this comment is a few years old but I would be interested to hear more about how ice baths help your pain?

Hope to hear from you soon :)

Morning Brendaface,

What bad luck to have been diagnosed but well done finding this site. It has proved a great help to many of us. It certainly a good way to start researching how to cope and care for yourself.

I see Ice baths have been recommended a bit drastic for me and I can no longer get in the bath. However, Ice packs provide brilliant relief placed in position on the percific muscle or area giving grief.

I find the itching really annoying and I am scratching as I speak, often you are unaware you have started and then it is too late you have broken the skin and are bleeding. I do find if as soon as I start I get some P45 cream and rub in gently for some relief.

Laughter is strongly used to relieve tension and suffering many smiles can be shared on this site.

There are so many stratergies for keeping pain under control but first talk to your doctor. We are not medics just fibromites sharing are experiances.

Have a good look around the site and do ask questions good luck
