No you don't have to pay; you just have to write to say why you contest the decision. They seem to refuse people the first time as a matter of course. It is all so crazy. Get as much evidence as you can most specifically from your specialist as to how your illness affects you.Send in your appeal straightaway even if you don't have the letter. Appeal then ask for the letter from the specialist. ( I know it's a crazy circumstance as these specialists are rushed off their feets anyway without having to provide this obvious evidence.)
Just say you want to appeal the decision because of ...... and refer to their criteria. For example you say I can... I say I can't becuase of ....and refer to your specialist and yes you may have to pay to get a letter from the specialist but hopefully not and you may have to keep asking but it's important .Good luck with this as it makes it 100% more stressful in my opinion.
I got mine last week that says I need to attend an ESA assessment. I have terrible tremors in both hands. It has come to the point, I can not even make a cup of coffee without risk of burning myself. It has come to a point where I can not go on. The tremors has been since I had an op when I was 17months old, now 45. It is a joke.
Hi e27s10p8
I am so sorry to read that you have not ascertained what you wanted and I genuinely hope that you can win your appeal if you go ahead with this. You do not have to pay as the others have said.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Hello there sorry about your ESA. I think that the best thing that you can do now is to contact the CAB or possibly a benefits advisor from your council.
The rules have changed and though not absolutely certain I think that it the same as for PIP. Before you can appeal you first have to go to mandatory reconsideration. You should have information about this with your letter.
If they again turn you down then you can take it to appeal. I am no way an expert this is only from my own experience.
Get in touch with an advisor as soon as poss the DWP only give you a month.
Best of luck and let us know how you get on
