I can't walk much, can't stand for long, I can only sleep lying on my left side. I am fortunate in that social services have provided a riser/recliner chair + similar for my bed. My left buttock feels extremely sore, not like sciatica. It is impossible to find a reasonable position. I am battling depression, this is not helping.. I can't get anything right. Yesterday had the amazing time with family, particularly 2 grandsons that only give absolute joy. The youngest, 19 months, reminds me so much of his mum @ the same age. It hurts. He wants me to play on the floor! I would give anything to do that. So adorable. His brother is 6, has great understanding, without a word he will arrange it so that we can play together and everyone is happy. Anyway I'm twittering again. Re. left buttock. Greatful for any suggestions. Tulip xx

Hello Tulip
I am the same-cant stand for long, only sleep on left side and walking is just now becoming difficult.i had the buttock pain and my gp arranged physio.have you had physio?
Hi tulips123
I am so sorry to read that you are suffering in this way at the present time, and I genuinely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I have pasted you a couple of links below relating to buttock pain, and I genuinely hope that you find them useful:

The second link relates to buttock pain that can be caused by back problems:
nhs.uk/Conditions/coccydini...
I have a coccyx problem, (I actually do not have a coccyx anymore!), and I sleep on my left side with my right leg raised and the foot resting on a soft block that is approximately 8 to 10 inches off the bed. If I keep my right leg straight and my left leg slightly bent then the next day the pain is more liveable.
It may be beneficial if you discuss the issue with your GP and see if they can refer you to somebody that can help deal this issue?
I want to wish you all the best of luck with getting some help with this problem.

Morning Tulip,
Finding somewhere that is comfortable is a nightmare isn't it? If you get one bit comfy another bit screams.
I don't know if I can help but I will tell you how I try myself. I sleep almost sitting up so I pack pillows behind me into a arm chair shape. Then I lie back and goodness me it is hip and leg they role over too far causing stress on muscles into groin and down thigh so I find another pillow small ish and wedge leg so it is straight ish. Then I llean back pull the covers up and my arms and hands have pins and needles so oooo I put a pillow on my chest a try to get a moments rest lie back hm oh eh ...it has been five minutes and yes needs must I have to go back to the loo!
In the morning I wonder what it is all a bout I would be better in my chair it is nearer to the Loo and I can watch Tele.
I don't surpose this has helped much but I hope it made you smile xxgins
Hello Tulip
Has Bursitis been ruled out? It could be Rheumy or Neuro so definitely worth checking out I think.
Hope it turns out to be something manageable.
Hi Tulip, I am the same except I can only lie on my right side. It is hard to get comfy, but when I find a position that works.......don't move me
I have tried exercises that the physio gave me for my sciatica when it was bad. It helps a little. won't help with the standing and walking, although it is meant to, but it may be worth a try
Honey, have you tried pain management? If not please do as it makes a world of difference!!! Hope this helps!!!
Ive tried it twice, unlucky I guess. Thank you though. Tulip
