Wasn't Jack like Tyson?

Just a bit more active. At 15 he was still doing long walks on Dartmoor. And loved by many.

To quote Roy Hattersley "he thinks holes are for putting heads in, and heads are for putting into holes :)

He spent a lot of time in this kind of pose.

OH MY WORD ...... That could be a picture of my old JR, Gertrude Russell, (she lived to 16) she spent so many hours upended in holes which she had no business to be meddling with !! We used to walk a fair bit on Dartmoor but I always had to have my wits about me (a difficult thing as I have very few) unless she vanished, we had a bit of a "do" one day round Haytor, but a couple of hours later, me a nervous wreck and concerned people helping, she reappeared looking as if butter wouldn't melt and wonder what all the fuss was about !! Typical JR !! Luckily the little one I have at present doesn't even have a clue what a hole is about let alone what might be in it, which is a relief in one way for me, but sad that her early life as a brood bitch in a really rough puppy farm (4 litters in 5 years) has left her not knowing about the "joys" of the countryside !

Do you still have Jack? I do hope so :-)

Bless. No. he died in 2005 age 17. I'll do a couple of Jack on Haytor later. The above is in the Valency Valley, north Cornwall. We spent a lot of time there and half his ashes are in the quarry. There's an old rabbit warren just west of Princetown. He spent over 1/2 hour down it. I had an early lunch.

Don't know how to put a picture in a reply yet. :) :)

Hi again :-) sorry Jack isn't with you still :-( I don't think you can put a pic in the reply section, can't quite understand why not, probably something techy !!

The afternoon of my 40 birthday was spent trying to locate Gertie in a hedgerow she didn't normally go in, but I could hear her and her bark was getting more and more strained, I got a friend to come with me and dig, luckily we got to her just in time, she was hooked up on a root by her collar and was strangling herself trying to get out........a very close shave !!

Not what I needed on my birthday !! :o :o I'm afraid my dogs have never worn collars since then, they are microchipped so I'm happier like that and they have slip leads which are much easy for me to get on and off :-)

Sounds like a plan Foggy. Jack managed to get into a HUUUUUGE bramble patch on the downs by Devizes - chasing guess what? That changed our plans for the afternoon!

Is that Gertie as your tag? Don't you find dogs do a parallel walk? As long as they can hear you they're generally happy. A dog's view of the world is definitely scent. With eyes 3" above the ground and usually hidden in grass it can't be sight.
