What do you use as most effective pain relief? That does not make you more foggy?

In alot of pain at the mo but cant find a suitable pain relief that lets me function

I use voltarol diclofenac cream and that eases up the edge of the pain along with paracetamol. I've been on pretty much every painkiller going and none of them ever agreed with me other than the buprenorphine patches. I had an allergic reaction after about 9 months on them but those 9 months were awesome! :)

I am on gabapentin with amitriptyline at night and after the first few days I have been fine. It does take me a while to fully wake up in the mornings but that is all. HTH Linda

I'm taking pregablin throughout the day, cocodomol 30/500mg, tramadol, duluxotine & severdol when really bad. However it's not controlling or managing my pain at all at the moment :(

I take dihydrocodeine ,paracetamol ,clonazepam ,and morphine patches, I don't really have any side affects, only constipation.

A hot bath does it for me but it only lasts a short time. Ive been given dihydrocodiene but trying not to take it that often only one a day if I can, with paracetamol, to take the edge off

I take amitriptyline a little in the morning and the rest at night. I have naproxen which I will take occasionally when I just can't bear it any more and it takes the edge off. Mostly I use a wheat-filled heat pack, and try to distract myself as much as possible.I also don't want to have side effects that impair my ability to function, so that rules out a lot of pills for me.

Well... I learned massage therapy and twice a week I have a long soak in the bath and give myself a massage - its meant to reduce the need for painkillers by 38% in trials. I also have learned trigger point therapy, that works for specific pains, see Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Clare Davies - it keeps me sane as my pain is 100% improved if I work on my trigger points. I learned Alexander Technique that improves my posture and helps with pain. I also meditate that helps me to cope with pain as well as that I think it actually helps with pain by relaxing the muscles. I use my TENS machine. I use hot packs and cold packs, and I use a mirror foam/memory foam mattress. I sit on a kneeling chair. I go to pilates and yoga to keep my muscles stretched. I listen to audiobooks at night and that really helps to distract me. I get my lovely hubby to hold me and kiss the part that hurts and it does work. I have a thing that is used to scratch the head for headaches. I also wear a frame in my mouth by day and night for face pain. I also have an elastic support for under my chin when the face pain is bad - I only wear it in the house. I hardly take any analgesia but I don't have young children or a job so I have time to concentrate on taking care of myself and it seems to work. Hugs xx

I think using a combined approach to tackle your Fibro symptoms may be the best way to control your pain.

i hope the information above helps as they may be medication or therapy discussed you have never tried which may help. You may consider talking to your GP about a medication review to find other medications which may suit you better.
