Oh dear, sorry to hear that. Is it IBS related to the fibro or maybe a bug? Is it something that has happened before? You are in my thoughts. x

haribo36 profile image
haribo36

Hi again,I have Ibs with the fibro and it's probably that as have been comfort eating in the evenings which has flared it up.I have decided that iam going to eat very lightly for the next couple of days, thanks for your concerns x

in reply toharibo36

Hi Haribo, do know what foods trigger the IBS? you could start a food diary to show the doctor :)

I have terrible IBS :( even I'm considering a gluten free diet as bread in particular any type makes bloat to the size of a whale :o certain vegetables such as the cabbage family and bean family give me terrible gas/wind cramps also :o

But remember we are all different and this is what its like for me. I also agree with lynzard about speaking to your doc about it even if its for reassurance or to ask for dietry advice.

Keep strong my friend :)

Hi zeb,I don't know what foods in particular but if I eat any naughty things like biscuits, any bread products, cakes etc..then I normally know the next day and also choccy but only a lot of it though so can eat a little.I always seem to have unpleasant wind which is horrible and would like to know what causes it as can be embarrassing.I will consider doing a food diary and ask the doc for advice. How do I get checked for gluten/wheat intolerance as I would like to know if iam?thanks zeb :)

lynzard profile image
lynzard

It's horrible isn't it. Have you had it checked in case it's something else? Hope the light eating helps. You probably know this but avoid gluten. Rest up.x

Morning Haribo,

I was sorry to hear that you're having a tough time of it currently.

Re the ibs, I've always suffered with it and just thought it was another thing to ave to accept and deal with however after a bad bout I decided to cut out wheat and gluten. No more sore tender bloated tummy, wind or d and c.

Might be worth you trying it for a week or two to see if it gives you some relief. I've found nice yummy things that are wheat and gluten free so you don't have to feel deprived either!

I'm currently in bed with a hot water bottle...love them!

Remember you are not alone, we are all right here with you.

Love Zosie

Yup gluten free if the way to go if not already doing it already. It's a shame as I love a lovely thick piece of wholemeal toast dripping in butter!!! I find the gluten free ones are good but not quite the same huh.

Hi zosie,I have been looking into this a while back and have started to try out a few products but haven't gone 100 percent yet.Is it very hard?do you have to check every single product when you shop to see if it has it in it?can you tell me what to avoid?I like pasta a lot and tried the gluten free one but didn't like it so will I have to give it up?Many thanks x

True the breads don't compare! But I've started to eat more rice, potatoes, rye crackers, rice cakes :) and I prefer the gluten free pasta to the regular stuff! Lots of big chain coffee shops now do gluten free brownies and there is a certain make of chocolate coated coconut cookie/cake that I love! Mmmmm...... :P

HI :) zosie and lynzard I think you have both near enough convinced me about the diet thing. What I'd like to know is whether it is an expensive diet to maintain? Are such products widely available? :)

I don't get to go grocery shopping I order it on-line and its delivered to the house and my concern is that the products will be constantly substituted or not available :o :( as is often the case :O

I can't eat pasta that is terrible for me a huge NO-NO LOLOL

:) xxxzebxxx :)

Morning Zeb,

Not even gluten free pasta? So I listed a few options above which are yummy, I think, and can be low calorie. For example yesterday lunch I had avocado on rye crackers with a slice of chicken on top. Yummy and very nutritious. The gluten free stuff is a bit more expensive, but you don't need much of it. You can cook lots of veg and rice instead. Luckily cheese and chocolate are gluten free or I'd be very sad!!

How are you today? How are the fluffies?

Xoxo

haribo36 profile image
haribo36 in reply toZosie

Can you eat brown rice then?also, can you eat ryvita crackers?x

in reply toZosie

Hi Zosie :)

Thanks Zosie. I'm a bit up and down but everything else is generally the norm for me today, fingers crossed in case I just jinxed myself ;) :D

How are you? btw here's some fluffies for warmth and comfort......... please don't give them choc they get hyperactive and naughtie LOL :)

I think I'd have to crawl into my nest and hibernate for a long time if I couldn't have choc or cheese :o LOLOL

That's pretty cool I already switched to rice and potatoes so that's a good start, I think I'd have to replace the avocado with tomatoes and light cheese and chicken. I don't like avocado :O

I haven't tried gluten free pasta so shall get some to try out as I do rather like Italian food :D

I also like rye breads but are they not a bit rich??!

I think I may start making my own bread again :) It's a therapeutic art that I used to enjoy doing so it will also give me something to focus on too :)

Morning you guys I am now wheat free and it is marvellous I actually dont bloat an more by evening I looked as I was about to give birth. There are plenty of free foods in all the major supermarkets now I love the gluten free spaghetti. You can by cakes biscuits bread all sorts if you want, I tend to live on meat vegetables and fruit. It works no fuss and good for me and I have lost a considerable amount of weight.

You are funny you know! Me too, haven't had nothing to eat yet so will try some free from porridge which I love :)

Zosie profile image
Zosie

Hey Zeb, I eat ryevitas, not rye bread. I've tried rye bread but didn't like the consistency. You can have white or brown rice but brown is healthier and lower gi so better for blood sugar levels. Quinoa is a tasty grain that is low in carbs so you can try that instead of rice.

Thanks for the fluffies :) I bet you could make some tasty gluten free bread at home! Send me a loaf! Perhaps a fluffie or two could courier it!

Hey Gins,

I agree with you on the weight loss. I went gluten free for 18 months in 2008 and naturally lost weight as I started to think about what my body needed and what it was telling me. Cutting out gluten isn't like going on a diet, that would be miserable, but it focused my mind and the cravings for naughty things went away.

Glad it works for you too :) hope you are well today?
