Hi, you get some or all the symptoms of a normal migraine but without the headache, in my case I get the aura disruption(strange vision problems) and slight headache , but then have a headache most days anyway !!

Hi Butterfly

Migraines can start with that sort of effect, for many years it was always my warning sign of one coming.

Have a look at the migraine trust, there is lots of info there about the different types of migraine.

Hope it clears soon for you.

Take care

Hi I have had this type of migraine twice. Both in the same month & when I was going through the most stressful time. I was rushed to hospital from work as it was thought I was having stroke. I was in a meeting & out of nowhere everything in the room including people went grey then their voices were so muted I couldn't hear what was being said. Then it looked like they were disappearing through a hole ( bring sucked down it. I also could not speak. I didn't believe the Dr at hospital because my usual migraine start in my left eye & are excruciatingly painfully. The silent migraine was pain free & apart from sleeping for rest of day, that was the end of it. It was not an early warning for my usual migraine. It was scary & I made a few decisions about dealing with stress! You are the first person I have known to have one of these. Mine happened over4 years ago.

Hi digregg, sounds like what you experience is worse than I get, mine just seems to affect my sight, the area to the left which like you say everything disappears into a hole, very strange, was watching "strictly it takes two" and Zoe ball's face was distorting, I asked my daughter if her face looked funny, of course she replied yes!!! But seriously, it got worse over thirty mins and lasted about an hour after taking two paracetamol. I had been to CBT yesterday afternoon, talking for half hour which tired me out so maybe it kicked it off, thanks for your reply. Take care x

I had migraines for nearly 30 years before they burned themselves out (a plus side of menopause for some of us) and have had a few silent ones. Makes skin on side of your head crawl x

I`ve had these migraines for years,a neurologist that I saw after I had a mini stroke told me it was nothing to worry about.Mine last for about 20mins in both eyes and gradually move upwards and outwards getting bigger all the time until they sort of disappear out of view. Strangely they always leave me slightly sick and HUNGRY ,eating constantly eases the sickness.

After I had a TIA I was told that Migraines stop when you get older, but I'm in my 60s & they are getting worse again. I've stopped wheat because that makes me ill & rarely take caffeine but am addicted to chocolate. My diet is so restricted now, I just need the sweetness. It hasn't made any difference whether I eat chocolate or not! The pain is unbearable and nothing eases it. I've never really understood silent migraines, what is the difference?

Hi cobweb, I am trying not to be a chocoholic as have gained half a stone in last few months !! The last time I had a silent migraine a few years ago my GP said it was the same as a migraine but without the banging head, just seem to get dull headache and sore neck.

I get the visual disturbances every day - sometimes or 3 :(

they can pass on their own or get so bad I cannot see - but headache & nausea of my younger days don't seem to follow as much.

I had an mri for my vasculitis abut 3 years ago and saw a neuro consultant - nothing showed up that shouldn't have been there.

I've noticed that I can wake up ok, but, after taking my meds, it appears.

Hi Butterfly72

I get this type of migraine on a regular basis they're called Opthalmic/Ocular Migraines. I used to get the classic full blown migraine when I was younger but no visual disturbance. I started getting the Opthalmic migraines after my diagnosis of Fibro.

I would say mine are hormonal as they tend to get worse prior to and during mensuration. Sometimes I wish I was a man lol ;D

Hope they ease up. Gentle hugs xxx
