Hi Mary,
I'm sorry you are going through such a rough time. Yes, I get swollen fingers, which I put down to arthritis, your elbow pain could be likewise, have you had any x-rays done? If not it may be an idea to ask your doctor to see if he thinks an x-ray would be of assistance. It is also possible that you are getting referred pain, but again your doctor would be able to help you with that . Normal is a tricky one, what is normal for one person may well not be normal for another and I think although we all have the same problem the way it manifests itself in each person can be different, although many are the same.
From the list of medications you are on I think weight gain could be down to that, both ampitriptyline and Gabapentin are known to to have the side effect of weight gain, plus with fibro one tends not to move around as much as perhaps others do, I try to walk at least a short walk every day, I am lucky that my legs are not the worst affected things for me.
I would say, yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel, purely because I have found that trying to keep positive and retaining a sense of humour have kept me going, and most of all the support of all the lovely people here too
I hope you can gain some strength and understand that we are here to help and assist you wherever and whenever we can.
Best wishes
Foggy x
Hello. I've had practically the same symptoms for the last few months, it's been really bad this summer, never had so much pain. My elbows have been really bad but it turns out I now have tennis or golfers elbows and am getting physio for it. The change in the weather has helped a bit, hopefully it will ease for you soon.
Some med's can make you put weight on, don't know about the ones you're on other than cymbalta and since I've been on that I have started to lose weight.
This site is brilliant, so glad I found it, it keeps me almost sane and I know I'm not on my own.
