My letter was dated 19th April, received on 25th April, telling me my benefit was stopped on the 3rd April. It took a further 12 days before I could see my doctor for a medical cert.

Cert posted on 8th May, I have no idea when the DWP are going to pay me again.

Ladies, it seems to me that this is what crisis loans are for, no?

They messed up with the dates on my last med cert which left a gaping hole before I'd get paid again (obviously no idea of when that might be) and when I called them (I presume youve done that - never leave things to chance with these guys) I was directed to the crisis loan process in case I had a critical shortfall.

Hope this helps...

Peachy x

Crisis loans were abolished on 1st April 2013 for men and women.

It seems to me that almost all benefits are being abolished!

I believe that if the present benefit rules were taken before the EEC Court of Human Rights, they would be declared unlawful.

Like most right-minded people, I don't feel that people should choose benefits as a lifestyle when they are fit for work, however, we have all paid National Insurance through the years in expectation that we would be entitled to support should we suffer illness or incapacity, or to be unemployed through no fault of our own.

It is not a charitable payment, nor a gift from the public coffers, but a right which we have paid for.

It appears that the terms of this insurance are not being honoured!

Couldn't agree more Moffy, lets not forget most of us have worked for low wages on the basis we can get benefits should we need them. What are we supposed to do now, refuse to work for minimum wages as it won't cover us in the event of unemployment. Demand companies pay us the same rates as company executives, with bonuses to match, so we can look after ourselves.

I think it is only a matter of time before these unlawful cuts, illegal medicals, and removing our right to legal representation in a court of law is challenged in the ECHR. No doubt there will be an awful lot of solicitors on the dole with plenty of spare time to look into this for us.

Not what you're looking for?
