Can anyone tell me the longest length a cycle can be for fertility treatment? From day one my cycle to the day of embryo transfer.

Hi. This can take from 4-6 weeks. It all depends upon how you respond to the drugs given. Sometimes you need to take your “down regulation” drug for longer that originally hoped. This all depends upon the scan taken to check whether you are responding well. Occasionally an extra few days of stimulating drug is needed too. Most patients are treated much the same to start off with, and it will not be known how you will respond until you commence treatment. Hope this helps. Diane

There are two protocols a long protocol (which has the down regulation), and a short protocol which just involves stimulation and therefore you start taking drugs day 1, and egg collection is around 2-3 weeks later with transfer a couple of days after that. Your clinic will have your full medical records and based on that would pick the protocol that is best for you.

Hope this helps
