Terrified im having a miscarriage .. support needed

Hi. I am going through ivf. This is my first pregnancy after my first transfer and I should be 8 weeks tomorrow. I had my first scan at u weeks and they saw nothing but a pregnancy sac and said I was suffering from a blighted ovum. I was referred to the early pregnancy unit and had a scan 3 days later. The scan sW a fetal pole and a heartbeat but the nurse said she was concerned as I was measuring about 6 weeks and not 7.

I have another scanned booked in for a few days as they need to see if it's developed but since then I've had a bit of spotting (pink/red mixed with discharge), cramps, pressure in my lower abdomen and back ache. I am terrified I am miscarrying and loosing my mind with worry.

Can someone please reassure me that there is hope. My private clinic said its not out of the realm of possibility for the embryo to keep developing but now I have spotting I'm convinced it's a miscarriage.

Thanks

Thank you. I appreciate your response. I don't really appreciate being told to calm down however. Probably not the correct choice of words 😕

Hi lovely so sorry for what you are going through I know it’s hard not to fear the worst and panic but please keep hold of a bit of hope darling fingers crossed it catches up on your next scan sometimes the scans can be a bit off by a week so fingers crossed it’s just that and plenty of women have a little show of blood in pregnancy if it turns to a heavier bleed then you phone your nearest EPU early pregnancy unit and they will ask you to come in but a slight bleed can be normal keep up with your meds drink plenty of fluids and try to put your feet up and take it easy

Sending you a big hug lovely

X

Thanks so much for your response. I will try to stop stressing so much about it and relax. Its not a lot of blood at all but all things combined make me stress.

Have a lovely day xx

I have bled on and off (sometimes heavily) through every single pregnancy. Only one (out of 5) was the bleeding actually a miscarriage) although I suppose it may have been an indicator that things weren’t going to plan. My daughter is 2 in a few weeks… I remember bleeding so heavily with her that there were some small clots and yet she made it. ❤️ crossing my fingers for you as the fear and not knowing what’s going on is horrendous!!

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's horrendous especially when getting through everything IVF entails before this point. I'm currently 26w pregnant and it started with a threatened miscarriage. So I know how scary it is but there is hope. I had had a previous missed miscarriage two years prior so I'll be honest I wasn't very hopeful at the time myself!! But want to reassure you a bit of spotting can be totally harmless. Keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Thanks so much for your reply. I'll be honest I did not know ivf would be this hard. Im hopong its just a threatened miscarriage and hasnt actually happened. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Xx

I’m so so sorry I’ve been there and the wait is agonising. I scoured the internet and there were cases where things did turn around in this situation and seeing a heartbeat did seem to imply a bit of hope for sure! It didn’t turn out well in mine fortunately but I went on to have success on my next egg collection. If I were you I would be preparing for the worst but having a little hope for the best too. Sending you all my love and thoughts I know you will feel scared and numb right now 💜 xx

Thanks so much for your reply. I am preparing for the worse if I'm honest and hoping the next trabsfer works. This was embryo 1 out of 4 so I'm hoping one sticks. So happy your collection worked xx

Thinking of you. The uncertainty is the worst. Be kind to yourself. You haven’t done anything wrong and you can’t change the outcome. I hope you can find something that helps to distract your mind a little bit. It’s agonising as others have said. Sending hugs. xx

Thanks so much. The long bank holiday is not helping the wait for sure. Xxx
