Menopur side effects

Hello

I've been prescribed 300iu Menopur for 10 days so far and I've had breathlessness since I first injected. I'm asthmatic but it doesn't appear to be my asthma. My heart rate has been pretty high and I just wondered if all this was normal or anyone has similar experiences?

Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather. I was breathless with it and would often get a stitch like pain. My ovaries became quite swollen from it and I became quite bloated due to fluid build up. Everything turned out OK but it was scary at the time. I ended up developing moderate OHSS (unsurprisingly considering how big with eggs my ovaries had got). Keep an eye on it and call a doctor if you need to. If it is OHSS its usually nothing to be too concerned with but it some rare cases it can be severe. Beat of luck x

Hello, thank you for your reply. It has felt so scary and my mind runs away with me... but thats made me feel more at ease knowing someone else has experienced it. I have also had a stitch pain aswell but no bloating yet. So sorry to hear you had OHSS, that is a fear of mine, im glad it all turned out ok for you. Hi, I would always check symptoms with your clinic. I had a bad experience with Menopur which gave me breathlessness when walking and it got quite bad. I had to go to A&E to be check out for blood clots which was later confirmed and put on blood thinners. We are all different in how we react with the meds but any thing with your chest and breathing it’s better to always seek professional advice. this is interesting - - and a good point above that everyone responds differently.

I didn’t have these effects with menopur at all - but I did get this from progynova however (palpitations)

And I ended up with mild OHSS on cycle two of three - changing the trigger shot to buserelin next cycle solved this (but meant I had to do a freeze all - which is fine - rather not be putting in embryos if ovaries still bloating)
