I am now writing from the EPU after being confirmed a miscarriage and waiting to speak with a doctor.
My rollacoaster started on 30th March, on Mother’day eve… I had heavy bleeding at about 6weeks, and 2 follow up scans.
The first scan (less than 48hrs after bleeding) on 1st April- the doctor didn’t look too concerned - even though they couldn’t explain why the bleeding there was the yolk sac but no heartbeat detected but said it maybe early.
Then 1 week after, on 8th April, got the 2nd scan - there was still the sac with the small embryo but looked it was far behind and still no heartbeat. So they checked the HCG level as further investigation and come back quite high. It gave me a little hope.
48hrs later, on 10th April, repeated the HCG and surprisingly they come back higher but not doubled.
Today got referred to the EPU for further consultation. I went for the scan and they found the embryo to be smaller. The nurse said it is shrinking because the pregnancy is not progressing. I asked why the HCG were increasing and she said hormones are still high in circle. I am now diagnosed with miscarriage and waiting for a doctor to discuss next steps.
My first transfer was a chemical pregnancy and this one was actually my first pregnancy🥺
I am heartbroken obviously but trying to be strong. Trying to think I now have two 🌟🌟 in my sky.
