*trigger* Postive Natural pregnancy after 2 failed IVF transfers

Hi there, wanted to know if anyone can relate. I had a fresh ivf transfer July 2024 and it failed, just had a FET in Jan 25 and it failed but they said it was a chemical pregancy, I was on progesterone injections and cyclogest. (also had a chemical natural pregnancy in Dec 2022).

Ive just had a positive pregnancy test from natural conception, so am really anxious as I am not on any progesterone, or do I look at it thay my body has been able to produce whats needed. I am so thankful and now believe in miracles but just can't help but think something is going to happen.

keen to hear success stories from anyone in simular x

Hey, congratulations on your positive test!I have literally just miscarried following a natural positive at 8 weeks. Previously had 3 failed IVF cycles: fresh bfn, frozen 1 MC at 12 weeks, frozen 2 bfn.

I had a blood test today post loss, and have been told my progesterone levels were low, so if I conceive naturally again in the future to contact the EPU who will book me in for an early scan and probably prescribe progesterone. This is a relief to know, as it felt very odd going through this pregnancy without progesterone support or an early scan (I had nothing offered outside of normal NHS antenatal care, ie midwife booking appointment and 12 week scan).

You might find you are told the same, so it may be worth reaching out to your EPU and explaining your situation. They probably have regulations about when and who they prescribe progesterone to, but they might offer you an extra scan or bloods at least which may offer you reassurance in these early weeks.

Good luck!

Awww I am so sorry to hear about ur loss😔its brutal isnt it. What is an EPU sorry? Ive contacted my IVF Clinic but they don't wanna know me now. ive contacted the GP but again they don't wanna know either. Ive got all the meds still ...wondering whether to just go it alone and take a cyclogest a day? I am sure you cant have too much progesterone? xxx

Early Pregnancy Unit. I was tempted to give myself left over cyclogest but wanted to try to keep everything natural. Today I was told that if we're lucky enough to have a next time, they would prescribe it after an early scan confirmed pregnancy is located correctly (ie not ectopic)

ok yes sorry as I sent that, my GP replied to say she would send me a prescription for cyclogest and put me down for a 6 week viability scan, so guessing I woulnt start progesterone till then, I have loads left over tho. wishing u success soon, just take your time , it's such a cruel thing. even when positive in these early stages every ounce of happiness is robbed as its the what if etx x

I have had 2 failed ivf cycles and I fell pregnant naturally last year. I was on supplements from my naturopath and I didn’t need any progesterone, I now have a 12 week old baby girl so it is most definitely possible. I know how hard it is when you have been through what you have though. I never let myself relax or enjoy my pregnancy the way I should have. Good enough my clinic did do early pregnancy care for me and monitored me with regular blood tests. I would say a little extra progesterone won’t do any harm but follow whatever you are comfortable with. Good luck I hope it all goes well xx

Awwe thank you, congratulations on your baby girl. its so cruel isnt it as IVF robs you of any excitement or anything that women that just fall pregnant get etx. the doctor said to take progestrone every 12 hours but you know when ur not sure they're have suggested that, so I'll ring an EPU today to see what they say xx

Hi there, I was in a very similar situation. I made sure I took my cyclogest, clexane and lubion until just after 12 weeks, as I had had a miscarriage with my only other natural pregnancy two years ago. I'm currently 22weeks pregnant. See if your consultant will prescribe it for you. Sending you all the best wishes and congratulations on your positive! Xx Edit: just read one of your replies, definitely take the progesterone meds you have at home, you can't have too much progesterone and I really think it's what did the trick for me!

awww congratulations to you too and thank you. yes I have all the pessarys and a little lubion. where i was under an IVF Clinic tho, they sort of don't wanna know me now and then my GP are sort of just treating it as a normal pregnancy etc as font know the history, will call them today and explain. I thought u couldn't have too much progesterone, but then on Tommy's it says only take it if uve had miscarriages before and bleeding.. I am taking them anyway! cant see them doing anything harm x
