hello everyone, looking for success stories to try make me feel a little bit of positivity. This is my second cycle of ivf, previous one had to be cancelled due to poor follicle recruitment that was on a long protocol this time they changed me to short protocol on the highest dosage, I went for my day 9 scan today and I have 2 follicles due for collection. Only 2… I can’t help but feel so sad and disappointed as we all know how slimmer the chances get as the days go on… we have male factor too so going through ICSI. We are planning retrieval this Saturday, has anyone had any luck with 1,2 follicles? I’m a 30 year old women who’s really healthy, I just don’t get why I am in this horrible situation.
Thank you

I just wanted to reply as I know how tough it can be when the odds aren’t in your favour, but sometimes miracles do happen. I’m hoping my story might give you a little hope.
So I have just turned 43 very recently. Last year I was told my egg count is very low, along with low AMH. We were told our odds of falling pregnant naturally were slim to none (although they can’t say impossible, as there’s always a chance) Chances of IVF working with my own eggs was 1-5%, and using donor eggs was advised in our particular case.
I am now just over 22 weeks pregnant (using my own egg!) and all is looking good so far 👍😊
I only ever had 2-3 follicles each cycle. Our first cycle was discontinued, due to follicle growth not developing as they should. 2nd cycle only 1 egg collected, which did fertilise but unfortunately had a negative test after 2WW. 3rd cycle was successful for us. We had 2 eggs retrieved on this cycle, and only 1 of those eggs fertilised. And yet here we are!
Unfortunately there will always be unsuccessful stories amongst the successful ones. Obviously every individual case and experience is completely unique. However, going on my own experience, I’d say if you feel mentally, physically, emotionally and financially able to try, then you always have a chance of success, no matter how small.
Wishing you all the best on the rest of your journey x
Thank you so much for your reply, this have given me a smidge of hope!!! I go in for retrieval tomorrow, so fingers crossed. I’m so anxious and nervous. When our cycle got cancelled last time they said doner eggs would be needed but I just want to give my own eggs a chance especially with my age. Sending so much love and congratulations on your miracle baby 💕
Just an update we got 1 egg retrieved and we have just been informed it’s fertilised. I know we are not out of the woods yet and have to wait for the day 5 blast but just wanted to let you know some good news.
Hi. All i cam say, is that we have had some success with extremely low AMH readings that have resulted in a live birth which is what we want, so the hope is there. Thinking of you. Diane
We cancelled our 2nd attempt in Nov because I only had 4 follicles & they weren't growing very well (I usually have about 11-13 follicles) but only ever get between 5-8 eggs each round. This 3rd round, I go in for fresh transfer tmw morn, I had 11 follicles, 5 eggs and 3 fertilised, I'm assuming I should be told soon how many made blastocyst - usually we only ever have 1. (I'm 39 if it makes any diff), ppl always say you only need 1 but it's true.
