Signs of Chemical Preg or Empty Sac.

WanderingWonder profile image

Hi All, hope you’re having as good a Friday as possible!

I am now 18dp5dt. I have no symptoms at all apart from tiredness which I imagine is caused by the progesterone. It’s very unnerving. I did a test this morning to see if it would still be positive and it was.

For anyone who had a chemical, empty sac or MMC, were there any signs?

Scan isn’t until the 17th March, which feels a long way away!

Thank you so much! 🩷

I would recommend getting a beta hCG blood test done, and repeat it after 48/72hrs. This is a helpful way to check how things are progressing until your viability scan. Even then, hCG levels vary widely between women and the progression may not always follow the 48/72hr “rule”.

All the best with your scan!

Hi lovely the only symptoms I had at first was needing to pee then being tired all the time and then banging head ache and I was having twins I lost one at 9 weeks but have a 18 month old now I had no other symptoms at all

I no it’s hard not to stress I was scared all the way through to be honest I was always at ultrasound direct getting a scan ever time I had a wobble which was a lot but having no symptoms isn’t a bad thing every body’s different

Congratulations on your Bfp and good look with your scan lovely keep us posted

Thank you so much for your response.

Sorry for your loss and congratulations on your beautiful babe!

I know you’re right, stressing doesn’t help anything at all. I am trying to stay cautiously optimistic and not think about it too much but it’s all I’ve been focusing on for 4 years so it’s really weird having nothing to do at this time!

Thank you for your wisdom and I will keep you posted!

All the best xxx

The only signs for me with my two early losses: the positive on a hpt was late, and the line didn't progress. The second loss, I had bhcg blood tests and they showed quite low levels that didn't quite double, so I was prepared for it. Outside of that, no symptoms. I completely understand the anxiety, and would also recommend getting the bhcg tests to alleviate it / find out where you are. Wishing you lots of luck 🩷

Thank you very much for your advice and I’m so sorry for your losses. It’s such a heart wrenching journey we are all on.

I think I will have to book in a blood test between now and the scan as I am not managing this limbo as well as I could be!

Wishing you the very best xxx

congratulations on your positive test! I completely understand how it feels at this stage. The wait until the viability scan was probably worse than the 2WW for me, and mine was delayed longer because of the Xmas period 🙈 I also had no symptoms at all which was not helping to reassure me, and I was also terrified of having a mmc, but thankfully now I’m 17wks :) I had no obvious symptoms throughout apart from lack of energy/tiredness. All you can do is take each day as it comes, obviously go careful but carry on as normal for distraction until the scan. We had a few extra scans after the viability just to ease any anxiety. All the best for your scan :) x

Hi, congratulations on your bfp ❤️

With my mmc, i had all the normal pregnancy symptoms- breast soreness, tiredness, a little crampy. The only reason I found out something wasn't quite right was the hcg blood tests . First was quite high but second hadn't quite doubled. My first scan confirmed sac and heartbeat but heartbeat was slow. They advised it would be 50/50 chance of progressing so I remained hopeful but my second scan sadly confirmed it hadn't.

I just want to say try not to worry, there's no reason to believe it won't work out.

Stay present, enjoy this moment you've waited so long for. Sending so much luck and positive vibes xx

I was exactly the same, no symptoms at all! I got a hcg test which doubled but the next one did not (I was about 7 weeks at that point). We did weekly scans because I was a wreck (I bled throughout and had 2 years of infertility with 4 ivfs that got us 0 embryos) but we saw a heartbeat and baby wriggle continuously! Unfortunately at 12.5 weeks I miscarried but many people do have successful pregnancies with no symptoms so try not to worry (if I could go back in time I would try and enjoy as much of the pregnancy as I could but I know that’s so much easier said than done) x

Hi, I also had no symptoms and am now 17 weeks, it's quite normal to have no symptoms at this early stage. I agreed the wait for the scan does feel long though!
