Hello everyone. I just wanted to ask advise. I am due to start my second round of ivf in the next few months. In my first round I only had 4 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilised however unfortunately none made it to the blastocyst stage.
For my 2nd round the clinic have said I can increase the stimulation meds. They said this might not always increase the outcome however it can. I just wondered if anyone else has had any experience of this? Or any advice?
Thanks so much ☺️

Yes, this happened to me. First round I got 8 mature eggs and 2 blastocysts. The doctor said I was a low responder for the level my AMH was so she increased my FSH dose from 150 to 200. The second round got 18 mature eggs and 5 blastocysts. I did 6 back to back rounds and all yielded different results when comparing how many days I stimmed for.
hey @carlsareus, I’m in a similar position, starting stimulation next month and increasing from 150 Gonal F (got 9 eggs and 4 blasts but 3 were lower quality and sadly none of them have stuck), to 262 Gonal F. Hoping will get more eggs and better quality this time. I’ve got a niggle that I’m going to speak to my clinic about though around the quality and wherever it’s worth having a mix of recombinant (Gonal F) and urinary (ie menopur) as apparently mixing the two can sometimes help with quality, Samuk14 you mention switching to menopur for quality- can I ask what your clinic said about the switch? As I’m wondering whether to explore it. Thanks!
First round I was on 350 Menopur - I think 6 eggs retrieved but none made it to blast.
Was told that first round is just to see how your body responds etc. Didn’t have any expectations really.
Second round increased to 450 Menopur (or whatever the maximum is). Ended up with some mild OHSS symptoms tho - collection results were better - a couple more eggs this time with two making it to blast - these were sent off for PGTA testing but sadly both aneuploid.
Third round - kept the same max dose - changed trigger to Buserelin to avoid OHSS symptoms - got 14 eggs - had 5 blasts to send for testing - 3 came back as okay. (Third round I had started taking CoQ10 and NAC and R-Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements for about 4-6 weeks)
Thanks so much for your message Bisquisite it really it mad how many different methods there are. Glad to hear that this has worked for other people. I’m so glad to hear about your third round and how successful it was! That’s great on the supplements as well, I’m taking these. My friend recommended the book and started taking these about a month ago. Throwing everything at it. Thanks again for your reply!
Helloo! I had my meds increased and used a mix to try and improve quality. It definitely improved quality but for me, the volume of eggs and mature ones decreased but I got more blasts! Feel like an actual science experiment! Good luck! xx
Hi Crazycatlady007 thanks for your reply!! That’s great news to hear. Yeh it does seem like such an experiment doesn’t it. Although I can do with avoiding the less volume as I didn’t get alot the first time 🙈. Thanks so much! Xx
