I'm considering acupuncture during my second round of IVF. Has anyone had any success with this? If anyone can recommend anywhere in Sheffield, that's a bonus! Thank you xx

Acupuncture

I wouldn’t be going through IVF without acupuncture. It is for my own sanity and helps me reset and relax during such stressful circumstances. I highly recommend it!
I had it for my last FET prior to and post the transfer. They recommend starting a couple of months before but I didn’t know that and started a few weeks before. I had a positive test. It helped me relax and was good for my circulation which I needed x
That's great. How often do you have it and did you go to a specialist fertility acupuncture clinic? I can imagine it's quite costly. We're having to self fund as well x
I had 4 sessions in total once a week, one of those was the day of transfer. I went to a Chinese clinic that specialised in fertility and ivf and they charged me £45 a session so it can add up. I don’t know for sure if this contributed to the success, but I’d had 2 failed FET prior and this was something I hadn’t tried so thought it was worth a try! I also had low progesterone so it’s hard to know what worked but it was definitely good for stress so I would recommend it xx
I’d recommend it! I had it for a month leading up to egg collection (had a much better result compared to my first round), then had it again in the weeks leading up to my FET. On the day of my transfer, I had acupuncture about an hour before and I went back about an hour after the transfer for another session! I now have my baby boy in my arms 🩵
It wasn’t a fertility specialist as such, but she did advertise it specifically. My practitioner had also been through ivf, so that was quite nice too.
It worked for me and I’d do it again. Good luck with your next transfer 💕
Thank you. That's great news, congratulations. Was it expensive? We're self funding so it's eating at our funds!
Hi,
I’ve had Acupuncture throughout my IVF journey and found it a really useful tool to help with circulation and whatever issues I’ve experienced along the way. It’s also been a much needed time out every week and helped me cope with the stress of it all. Mine costs £45 a week and I went every week in the couple of months prior to transfer, the day before transfer and after transfer. Had a few failed FET’s but my uterine lining was better each time and I generally felt fitter and stronger and I’m sure the acupuncture and generally focusing on how my body was doing contributed to that. I self funded too. It can really add up. I did feel it helped me though and was/is worth it. I’m 23+2 wks and still having fortnightly sessions to help with pregnancy symptoms and keeping that circulation going. I found a lovely private practitioner in York and it’s a lovely time out. Costly but if you can afford it I can highly recommend. All the very best to you x
