Combined IVF

Hi all,Haven't posted for a while. We've had a looong break from the dreaded ivf journey!

We're considering our next steps and have been looking into combined ivf cycles (using own eggs and donor eggs).

Has anyone been down this route? Not many places offer this option and I'm not sure why. We're considering going to Prague for the treatment.

Would love to hear about your experience if you went down this route please.

Hi lovely I’ve not done it but they do that in Cyprus as well called a tandem cycle where you and a donor both do ivf you get to keep all the eggs I think it’s about 9000 euros there seems like a good idea if you want to try your own eggs but got the back up of donor eggs so you have something to freeze . Good luck lovely with your treatment xxx

Thanks for your reply! I do think it sounds like a good option, as I would love one last shot with my own eggs but I'm realistic it's incredibly unlikely to work. So it would be good to have a 'back up'. I'm already coming to terms with donor eggs, so it feels like a good option for us xx

Hi lovely I hope you get some good blasts . I understand what you mean about one last try with your own eggs but if you succeed with your eggs or donor it’s still your baby it grows inside you and will act just like you I’m wishing you loads of luck with your treatment lovely xxxx

hi, I also thought about doing this. I think access fertility offer a package?

In the end I tried 1 cycle with my OE through access fertility, had 3 failed transfers so moved to DE ( via CARE pay package) and we were blessed with our daughter 🩷.

So not really a combined package but I did look at that option and thought it would have been a good option for me at that stage. I was 42, and since I had my OE son at 41 , I held onto some hope that I had a few eggs left but I also knew that my chances were slim and that DE might also be right for me too.

Good luck 🍀 interested to see what experiences others have x
