Frozen transfer timeline?

Looking for some advice around frozen embryo transfers if anyone can help…

From Monday’s EC we have 2 day 5 embryos now in the freezer - 4aa and 4bb (not really sure what the grading means).

They also said we may get 2-3 day 6 embryos that can also be frozen and we should know more later today. We are doing a freeze all because of my high risk of OHSS.

Does anyone know the time frames of what happens next? With a freeze all how long have people typically had to wait before they have been able to transfer. At what point can you transfer in a cycle? Is there a standard timeframe? I’m waiting for a period at the moment but not sure what time frame we’re looking at the other end.

Thanks for any help and wishing everyone well on their own journeys

Good morning,Congratulations in your very good quality embryos ❤️ the number is the stage of development the embryo is at, the first letter is how good the cells that will become the baby look and the second is the outside cells that will form the placenta. 6 to be the highest and a to be the best, soo yours are pretty good!

With the frozen embryo transfer, you will have to tell them on the first day of your period, then they will do a scan, on day 3 you start taking estrogen, then after around 11 days from first day of your period they do another scan and if everything is good you start taking progesterone and 5 days later you have the transfer ❤️

I hope this helps! I had a frozen transfer after 2 failed fresh ones and it worked! It was a 4AB graded embryo 😊

Wishing you all the best of luck ♥️♥️♥️

hello, congrats on getting some embryos this cycle :)

Frozen transfers come in multiple protocols. The one described above is a medicated FET. There are other types including natural and natural modified cycles.

Natural FETs follow your natural cycle with a few scans to look at lining and follicle size, or simply rely on ovulation tests to determine transfer date (which is typically around 5-7 days after ovulation is confirmed).

Modified natural include the addition of a trigger shot to time ovulation so it’s more controlled. I typically do these and the latter 2 are beneficial if you have regular cycles and don’t want to be on lots of medication.

Best of luck xx

Thanks so much for this, super helpful. I have quite an irregular cycle so I imagine I’ll need some medication to help me along the way. Will have a follow up call with the clinic next week so can ask them about the above. Wishing you all the best on your journey too xx

Hi BlueTrip, if this is your first cycle they might want you to have a full 'normal ' cycle before they book you in again, to check all is well. I finished my first fresh cycle with a bleed, they waited until my next period and then booked me in for the period after that to start my frozen cycle. In real life that meant I finished first week of May and restarted again very end of June with transfer mid July. Hope that helps. Also, the embryo grading gets mixed reviews so I don't worry about that too much. If it is good enough to freeze, it is good enough to make a baby! x

Hi lovely, I think we have similar situations as I had EC on Tuesday and my clinic called today to say thankfully we have 2 blastocysts they’re freezing today but will keep an eye on the other 2 to day 6. I knew I was having a freeze all as I had a previous cycle of OHSS and was at risk again as my hormone levels were sky high. My clinic told me the earliest I’d be booked in for a Frozen transfer would be January. I’d need to have my withdrawal bleed this month and my usual period December before prepping me for FET. That suits me fine, as I can enjoy my Christmas without worry as last year I found out I had BFN on Boxing Day 😔. I feel a sense of relief that I can enjoy the festivities and prepare and wait for what I hope will be the best news to start 2025!

Wishing you the best of luck on your journey, you deserve it! We all do and we will get there xx 💕💕
