Poor line progression - now 15dp5dt. Thoughts?

Hi all,

I'm now 15dp5dt from a frozen embryo transfer (my 4th one trying for a second baby) and I'm on progesterone pessaries and lubion injections. Have had a bfp since about 9dp5dt but very faint and it's never really progressed. I felt nauseous for two mornings but now feel nothing! When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had very clear line progression and also felt lots of symptoms from quite early on.

I really feel that it's not worked this time - maybe another chemical? I've had a chemical before but it became a bfn a lot quicker. Our clinic doesn't do betas so I'm just in limbo until I get a negative pregnancy test or I start bleeding.

Hopefully you can see the tests in my photo! Any thoughts would be very welcome! Xx

It is possible to get private HCGs elsewhere if your clinic are not helpful. Or use medichecks. I found getting blood Hcg 48h apart much better indicator than the squinting at sticks - which are not meant to be quantitative. I hope it works out well for you 🤞🏼

when is your scan booked?

I had mine earlier (at 6 weeks) due to poor progression and slowly rising HCGs. Sadly proved my worst fears it was ectopic pregnancy. I don’t mean to scare you but I think get all the info you can. xx

Thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it as it helps me to work out what to do next. This is what I'm most worried about - an ectopic. Your ectopic was picked up on the 6 week scan? My scan will only be at 7 weeks but I might ask for it to be brought forward to check what's going on! I think I'll give it a week and if I'm still getting positive tests, I'll ask for hcgs and an early scan. xx

I would ask for the HCGs and if those don’t show good level/rise ask for early localisation scan at 6 weeks. I was warned we may not see FH at that stage even if pregnancy visible. And yes sadly there was a typical ring shaped mass seen in my left adnexal region (presumed tube as obviously tube cannot be seen on scan when it is normal size) at 6 weeks. This was removed and confirmed ectopic pregnancy on histology. But remember the urine tests aren’t designed for line progression and quantification so everything might still end well for you - I really hope so xx

these tests aren’t really that helpful for looking at progression in my experience the pink dye ones or the clear blue indicators with the weeks on them give me a better idea (I’ve had quite a few chemicals or miscarriages). As previous poster said you can also get some HCGs done privately or your gp might also oblige if they are one of the nicer ones. Fingers crossed for you! Xx

Thanks very much for your reply! Yes I might have to try a different type of test. Once you knew you had a low hcg, what did you do then? Do you just wait for a miscarriage/period to return? xx

With my chemicals when I saw line progression stopped and my clearblue indicators went backwards I just stopped meds and had a bleed (has ranged form a few days later to over a week later) When I had hcg privately it was inconclusive so had an early scan about 6 weeks and that was inconclusive too and eventually heartbeat stopped at 9 weeks scan and again had a natural miscarriage about 10 days after stopping meds. So it is really different each time. But with my early chemicals the lines did face on the boots pink dye ones quite obviously more than yours have here and the digital one went back to 1-2 weeks (or didn’t move from it) so I would defo get some different tests before thinking about all that though as these tests are really not telling you anything just now as they are a bit rubbish for line progression xx

Thank you - so helpful to hear your experiences. I'll start with different tests to begin with and take it from there. My gut feeling is that this hasn't worked for me so I'm so tempted to stop my progesterone and get this episode over with so that we can move forward to our last frozen embryo but will test again and see. xx

I found the clear blue blue dye tests v. Unhelpful for line progression, mine even looked like it was getting lighter, so I stopped using them and used first response pink dye tests you can get them on Amazon. They were so much better. Wishing you all the best ❤

the lines look good to me 🍀🍀 I had very similar worries with my daughter but all was fine. I did consider paying privately for HCG testing but then I had some spotting and I went to my GP and she sent me to EPAU and they did HCGs for me which was very kind of them and reassured me.

Your lines are stronger than mine were and I got a HCG of 1035 at 12dp5dt 🤞🤞 good luck xx
