Hi all, it has been a long journey of IVF and with mild Adenymyosis at the beginning of Sept I was advised to start a down regulation protocol with Decapeptyl 3.73mg for 3 months + Letrozole 5mg (AM +PM).
Yesterday I saw a light pink discharge and this morning a thicker brown and ending up to proper red full discharge while wiping.
I have written to the clinic to understand what is going on but I wonder does this mean it didnt work properly ? And if yes is this possible?
I am devastated as this has happened again and the clinic doesnt seems to change protocol despite repetition 😭😩.
What should I do? Any advice pls or similar situations for anyone else?
Would highly appreciate your thoughts…
Thank you,
V

Hi Diane, thank you for your response and sorry for confusion, the depot was for a month only but I need to repeat the dose for the coming 2 months too. However seems like possible bleeding is coming only 2,5 weeks after the 1st depot. My second depot is supposed to be on the 8th Oct. So not sure if Letrozole is causing the bleeding discharge or depot injection is not strong enough and period is about to start. Waiting feedback from clinic still…
Hi ValaI , I am not sure about the role of letrozole as I've never had it, but when I've had the long protocol I have a shot of decapeptyl on day 21 to downregulate everything, have a period, and then start the rest of the meds on the next period. I hope your clinic give you some clarity xxx
So the point of the meds in this instance is to down-regulate everything, suppress the natural cycle, and shrink the adenomyosis. If I'm reading correctly.
I'm not an expert, but a little blood might not be a bad sign. It may still be calming everything down, it may take a while. The only way to know if it has been successful is to possibly do an ultrasound and see if the uterus and adenomyosis has shrunk, although this only seems to be done by expert practitioners not normally done by clinics. I'd ask the clinic if they want to run any bloodwork or ultrasound to see how things look / if it looks like you have ovulated or not, but maybe you just haven't been on the medications for long enough? Your body may have already been close to ovulating when you started? I hope you get answers and it works out ok! xx
Hi, I've down regulated with Decapeptyl several times over the years/cycles to reduce my Adenomyosis. I've only used Letrozole once and I bled too. I didn't bleed when using Decapeptyl alone. Not sure this helps, but I would speak with your clinic. All the best x
Hi, I was on down regulation with Zoladex for long Protocol IVF.
I have severe Adenomyosis, my clinic doesn't differentiate or complete a 3 month down regulation. Long Protocol worked well for my egg collection.
I was told I was supposed to have a bleed about 10+ days after injection (my bleed occurred about day 17 after the injection and was horrendously painful). So could your bleed be what is supposed to happen?
The point of my down regulation was to stop my pituitary gland releasing hormones. Which worked nicely as my ovaries were quiet at the next scan.
