Courier companies used for Embryo Transfer

Hello,

This post is not quite the traditional 'Embryo Transfer' most would be discussing...

Can anyone recommend any courier companies that handle Embryo transfers from one clinic to another. This is all new to me; I've taken the decision to move to another clinic (having been at my clinic for 5 years, it's time for a change).

In the process of signing up to a new clinic, I have to find a courier company that will handle the transfer of Embryos from the old to the new clinic.

I'm hoping others have been through this process and can recommend reliable companies please? I'm quite anxious as it is clearly very fragile cargo that's being transported 😬

Thanks!

Hi there, I had to use a courier last year as the clinic we were at originally had it's license revoked by the HFEA, it got taken over by another company but we'd decided to move as we'd lost confidence there.

We used a company called IVF Couriers, all went well, their communication was good, some of the companies do a kind of live tracking but this one didn't, we got confirmation from both labs as well as the courier and copies of documents with the embryologist confirmation signatures etc.

We paid £480 to the courier, but that was for a relatively short distance, it's probably a 45-50 minute car journey. That was for an embryo and sperm samples.

Bear in mind that there are import and export fees involved at both clinics, although in the end, they should have these in their list of fees. I seem to remember we didn't pay the clinic we were leaving due to the circumstances, but we paid £120 import to the new clinic, and then upfront storage, although they let us hold off on the embryo as we were planning a FET asap (which didn't end up happening because I became unwell).

There will be forms to complete for both clinics and the courier but they aren't too bad.

I just remembered as well that both labs had a list of couriers they were happy to use, so you just need to check that as well, I think IVF couriers are quite a commonly used one though. The other company I spoke with was Embryoport and they seemed very professional as well. Their quote was slightly higher at £550 but they offer the live tracking and I think a slightly higher amount of insurance.
