Hello ladies, I hope you are all doing the best you can be on this difficult journey.

I am 6 weeks + 4 days pregnant (I thought) after a 5 day double transfer. My HCG was positive and I have had lots of positive pregnancy tests too. I have had intermittent bleeding and pain and today I finally had my scan.

I am totally devastated that they couldnā€™t find my foetus on my scan today. They are saying itā€™s most likely a miscarriage or an ectopic but there is a very small chance that it is due to being too early. However they also said that at 6w +5 days they should have seen something today (the sac I guess) even if it was too early for a heartbeat.

Has anyone else had a scan at 6 weeks + 5 to be told they canā€™t see the foetus and then the next scan they have seen the foetus and heartbeat? They want to take bloods and re- scan in a few days but have told me it is bad news that they canā€™t see anything today so didnā€™t see any hope from what they said and they were saying sorry.

I am totally heartbrokenšŸ˜¢šŸ˜¢šŸ˜¢

Hello lovely,

I'm so sorry to hear this. I have just been through a similar situation.

At 6+4 they could only see a sac with no embryo, so we went back a week later - there had been a bit of growth but it was so far behind we had to wait another week. That 3rd scan showed there had been no further growth so it was a confirmed missed-miscarriage.

I have seen a few people on here have good news after seeing very little at 6+4, but I wasn't that lucky. Fingers crossed you see some growth in a week xx

Thank you so much for your reply. I am so sorry you have also just recently been through a similar situation and I am so sorry for your loss. It is just so devastating. Sending you hugsšŸ©·.

They couldnā€™t even see a sac on my scan nothing at all. I have had bleeding and pain on and off but they think itā€™s either an ectopic pregnancy or a miscarriage. It has probably not happened completely because of the amount of medication I am on. I am so scared of the unknown now and canā€™t believe that this morning I was 6 weeks pregnant. Trying to process this is just so heartbreaking and devastating as you sadly know. Thinking of you too xxx

Aw I'm so sorry to see that - yes you won't be bleeding properly due to the meds - in a way its cruel because you don't realise it's happened.

I hope you're doing ok - I know it's devastating xxx

Iā€™m so so sorry šŸ˜¢ we could see very little at 6 weeks on the scan once just a small sac measuring behind and it didnā€™t end well Iā€™m afraid (I have a few posts from last September if you want to read them). The main thing is for them to rule out eptopic for you so hopefully the bloods and repeat scan will do that. At 6+4 they should be seeing a lot more Iā€™m afraid and with IVF we know our exact dates Iā€™m really heartbroken for you šŸ’”
