I have just done my first injection today, first IVF round, and found it really stressful. Is this normal?
I think it all went ok, but basically what the nurses told me I would receive and dosage (150 IU) was not the same brand medication or the same dosage (225 IU) that the pharmacist gave me (it's got my name on the prescription label though so it's definitely for me!).
Husband and I were doing some frantic googling to try and see what we should do. In the end we followed what the official prescription on the medicine said (225 IU), but it made me really anxious about it all and whether I have enough days of drugs now. I guess I phone up the nurses tomorrow and see what they say.
Did anyone else have this happen to them? I do appreciate there are different brand names for drugs but I wasn't expecting it to throw me so much. :/

I found it very stressful as well. I just took it one day at a time and tried to remember it wasn’t forever. I would check your dosing with the nurses definitely
Yes, definitely found it stressful. Sort of the pressure of being responsible for something you're not normally responsible for (giving injections).
Definitely call clinic and check. I was prescribed entirely wrong drugs (stims instead of those for an FET) by mine. So errors do happen.
Given that it sounds like you're at a really early stage of stims, it's not likely it'll have done any harm, even if it was an error. The drug concentration is varied all the time during stims, based on how you're responding and can go up and down.
Check with the clinic. As long as what's in the drug is what you're expecting e.g. FSH or whatever, it'll likely not ve a big issue.
Hi. Try not to worry as there is a shortage of so re medications, so your pharmacist will give you a near match. Obviously check with your clinic make sure you drink plenty of water. Good luck . Diane
My clinic wrote up my prescription before our Day 3 ultrasound/baseline follicle check and they had been expecting more follicles and had originally said 150dosage of gonal-f per injection. They upped it to 200 but they did tell me and contacted the pharmacy to update. Depending how communicative they’ve been so far it’s definitely worth checking, and as other people say, a different dosage for couple of days shouldn’t do any harm as they can change that depending on how you respond anyway. From my personal experience the clippy injections went fine but when I had to do the syringe/mix injections I totally freaked out in the morning and struggled to do anything competently (just too many steps and too early in the morning for me!). I found it really helpful to have my partner do this one and we timed it where it fit around work. In case it’s an option for you to split the responsibilities once you’re on 2 injections a day.
That's a good thought for the twice a day one! Will feed husband his coffee first and then proceed 😂. We already agreed that I am mainly doing the injections otherwise it may be a repeat of the time he tried to cut my hair during lockdown....
Luckily the nurses got back to me yesterday and confirmed I am on the correct dosage, just had been written down wrong on one sheet of people, so less stressed now about this.

I was nervous about letting my partner do it because of similar things but him being a morning person just meant it worked for us I think the actual pushing of the syringe was easier for him from another angle too - and I just drank coffee whilst he prepped it then stared out of the window and counted to 10 x
My husband did all the injections and it really worked for us. I got myself in a state over them so he would get everything ready and then call me in for them and then I would leave the room as soon as it was done. This really helped my anxiety and it also helped him feel involved.
