hi all! I’m in my 2nd ivf stim cycle and at day 8 of the cycle I had my scan - 2 follicles are already at 18-18.8mm with others following at 12-14mm.
The clinic reduced my dosage to 300 and told me to start the antagonist (orgalutran) today.. I’m really worried by the time I trigger they will be too big… and might lose them.. next scan on Thursday so in 3 days.
Any experiences similar to this?
Thank you!

Hi, not sure if it will help you, but with my last stimulation I had 2 follicles that were measuring around 20-21mm while the others were still catching up and my clinic wasn't concerned. As long as you take the meds they prescribed on time etc you should not ovulate on your own and only after trigger shot, like with my 2nd ivf I had 11 days of stims before the trigger and on my 1st I had 9 days of stims before trigger
Hi Glaedy, had my scan today and there are 3 measuring 21mm.. did your clinic mention to you last time they could become post mature by the time of EC?
I’m triggering tonight and I hope they won’t grow too much to be post mature…
Hi Isy, they didn't mention anything about being post mature. What they told me that good follicle to have the best chances of having good egg should be over 18mm and they didn't give the top limit and I never heard of having too mature egg. Your 21mm follicle is just the sac with fluid and somewhere inside is you little egg so don't worry too much. Like for myself on the last scan I had few follicles over 20mm and I was triggering the next day to give a chance for rest of them to grow. Good luck with your trigger!
Ive had this the last few collections a couple getting to over 20 whilst others 14-16 it’s a balancing act for them but is really common and should all be okay 🤗 rarely do they all grow at the same time but 18 isn’t to far ahead so should have a few more catch up before collection 🤞🏽🤞🏽 good luck not long now! Xx
this happened to me too except it was more evenly split (like 4 big and 4-5 smaller) so they called it a “split cohort” and we canceled and tried again the following month with a different hormone cocktail so as to try to get the biggest yield. But if cancelling wasn’t an option, they said above 15-16 mm is still possible to mature and fertilize and 24 mm can still fertilize too so it’s a big range of possibilities. Depends on your body! In the end I got 12 over 18mm and only 5 were mature anyway so not that different from what my original split cohort would have maybe given. -emma
