Follicle Numbers

Hi everyone,

I have just started the stims for my first IVF cycle. I had my follicle count today and it was much lower than my last (8 & 4) I wonder if the number of follicles in folks first scan at the start of STIMS always ends up the same at the end or can I grow more?

sorry I'm just a bit disappointed but also so happy to have some!!

Thanks

Hi lovely,

On my last egg collection they said they saw 6 in total which I was so shocked about because I’d always had between 12 - 18….

2nd scan after a few days of stims and there were 12, so some must have just been really small.

So there is every likelihood you will have more tinies hiding xx

Same thing happened for me. I have pcos and first scan I had 20 total but ended up having 36 retrieved!

Mine stayed the same but my clinic doesn't seem to count small, late ones so I think they just look at the ones that are most likely to be mature. I got five mature both times and they pretty much all fertilized. No blasts though 🤦‍♀️

Thanks for sharing lovely! It is great all five fertilised, sorry there were no blasts though! I wish you the best of luck with your journey

Same happened to me on my third cycle compared to 1 and 2, but even though there were fewer follicles, this was the round which worked and gave me my son. Try not to worry too much about numbers, my most disappointing round became my miracle 🥰🥰 good luck xx

On my initial scan I think I only had two follicles measuring at the size my clinic would have liked at that stage, and there were 3 or 4 very small ones. they ended up collected 19 eggs and fertilizing 17 (ended up with 7 day 5 blasts), things can change very quickly x
