Pessaries versus injections

Hi there on my last icsi cycle I tried the injections instead of the pessaries and felt they worked better. We are due to try our third and probably last cycle of icsi at the end this month and the doctor has prescribed pessaries again. I advised I’d had injections last time and found them better and he said the guidance they are using at the moment is the pessaries are best but didn’t really say why. We are having pgta testing this time so don’t know if that has any bearing on his decision. I will be talking to the nurses in a week or so’s time and wondered what peoples pros and cons for both options are so I can weigh up my thoughts before discussing which way to go. Thanks for everyone’s help as usual xx

I am on both, and it works the best in my opinion. Don't think PGTA has anything to do with it as I had my embryos tested this time and as I said I am on both injections and pessaries...I prefer injections as they are less inconvenient and with pessaries I was always stressing if it absorbed properly...

Do you know if you normally have quite low progesteron level?

I had both on my successful FET. You can absorb it differently depending on the form so having both means you've got more chance of it being absorbed.

on my successful try I was on pesseries twice a day, injections twice a day and prognova, 3 tablets per day.

PGTA has nothing to do with it. I was advised it was because with a FET your living will not thicken normally to allow implantation to occur so the drugs are doing that job for you. I was on them for what we thought was the first 12 weeks (though sone clinics stop medication as early as 8weeks) after which the body naturally takes over.

Hope that helps x

On my successful cycle I was on both pessaries and injections. My progesterone got quite low at some point so Prontogest (injections) really made a difference and helped my progesterone levels increase.

My husband and I opted for PGTA but it has nothing to do with pessaries/injections - at least to my knowledge.

Good luck 💙💙💙
