Lubion Vs Pessaries - 3rd failed transfer

Hello All,

Very sadly, our 3rd transfer has failed. I have never got to OTD without spotting or bleeding.

1st cycle (fresh) period started 5 days after transfer & was on 2 pessaries a day.

2nd cycle (fet) started spotting day after transfer and didn't stop but got a BFP which ended in miscarriage. I was on 3 pessaries a day.

3rd cycle (fresh) spotting started on the same day I usually do and then full on bleed. I was on 3 pessaries a day.

We have one embryo in the freezer and our consultant isn't keen to give us the lubion injections and he won't test my progesterone levels.

Does anyone think lubion injections could help? I'm feeling so hopeless and just want to do anything for our final IVF try.

TIA,

Elly xx

I did a pessary every 6 hours and a lubion injection every 24hours. I was tested day of transfer and my levels were slightly low so we increased from a pessary every 8 to every 6 hours and it helped. I was already on the Lubion every 24hours as my previous cycles I always spotted and didn’t make it to test day as I would have my period. This cycle worked but ended in a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I will be using this protocol for my next FET xx

I’m sorry to hear this - it’s never easy 😔

My first FET I was on 2 pessaries a day and I spotted before OTD. My clinic upped it to 2 pessaries and 1 lubion a day after that and I haven’t spotted on that protocol xx

Oh that's good to know, I'm going to push for lubion injections. 🤞Xx

I'm not specialist but I don't understand why are they not giving you lubion? It's just extra progesterone and can't do any harm... I was on vaginal pessaries 3 times a day; but on week 6 (of pregnancy) I started spotting - my clinic then added 1 x lubion a day. Not sure if it's because of lubion but I have not had any spotting ever since.

Yeah me neither, I had to really push for 3 pessaries a day. It's going to be our last shot at IVF so want to do everything we can on this go. Will be pushing for lubion this time. Xx

Me. My first transfer I bleed 6dp5dt.

Second transfer I bled 5dp5dt. Both times I was on crinone gel twice a day.

Third transfer I was on crinone and cycolgest, I can’t remember what way, but made it to 7dp5dt. So again didn’t make it to otd. 4th transfer I was seeing an immune specialist in London and using my Cambridge clinic for the actual ivf. This time I had cyclogest Am and Pm plus prontgest 100mg daily. I also had my levels checked at transfer (116) and 3 days after (125). This transfer resulted in my daughter.

I’m going again and on 2 x cyclogest and 1 x lubion. I had levels checked at transfer (178) and also 3 days past (I’m 5 days past but haven’t had results yet) but I’m happy with 178.

I would really push for more progesterone and have levels checked. So important!

Thank you, I'm tempted to get them checked elsewhere if my clinic aren't interested again xx

Hi,

So sorry to hear about this last round. I can't believe your consultant won't test your levels. I'd definitely push to get it checked, even if you have to pay for the test just for your piece of mind.

I have had the same for my last 2 rounds, bleed before OTD. I asked about lubion and consultant did explain how once the embryo implants it gives off hormones which make the body produce progesterone so the pessaries would be enough to cover this until the embryo can do what it should. She explained it in a way that made sense and that I didn't need the lubion but if wanted it for reassurance then could pay for it.

My OTD is monday and I've been spotting since Thursday. Pretty sure it's a bfp so for my final round I'm asking to the lubion- like you worth throwing everything at all!

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion. Might upset your consultant but you are the customer and they need to listen to you and understand why you want this to be tested xxx

Our consultant explained that to us as well and it does make sense but I think mentally it will make me feel more confident about this final transfer. It's just fills me with dread when you see spotting in the TWW. I really hope you get your BFP, let me know how you get on ❤️

Hey MrsCampbellyHow did you get on with getting your protocol changed for your FET?

As predicted I got a BFN and just had my review and consultant has given me the option of increased pessaries or same plus lubion injections. I'm not sure which would be better? Glad at least though she listened.

Were thinking of level 1 tests and my oh is keen on another fresh round as not ready to finish yet and with my ageing fertility going to leave our frosty suspended in time a little longer! So much to consider and too many options which all could make little difference to a huge life changing event we all want so badly 🤦🏻‍♀️ Driving me a little crazy!

You know when you'll be starting your FET? Xx

Hi, sorry to hear about your cycle, it's just rubbish!

I have pushed back on my clinic and asked for a 2nd opinion. I have a call later this week to discuss options for the next FET. So not much further but feel like I'm getting a there. I asked them if they won't test my progesterone then I want as much as I can get to stop my period from starting before OTD. xx

I would definitely take some Lubion - you are sure you are getting a dose with it. I don't feel like I absorb the pessaries appropriately so the Lubion gave me peace of mind

So sorry to hear that. We have had lubion + pessaries since 2nd transfer. 2nd was a MMC,3rd was a chemical and 4th was a BFN. Can you test elsewhere if they won't test progesterone? Xx

Clinic have finally agreed to let me have pessaries & lubion on our final transfer. They won't test my progesterone but I feel better about going into this final transfer with extra progesterone. At least we are doing something different this time round xx
