Ovaries did not respond to stimulation drugs

I started my fifth cycle last week and yesterday my doctor told me that ovaries did not respond. This was the first time it happened to me. I took Genatropin 0.5, Gonal f 225, Letrozol 2x1 and Femara 1 tablet per day. On my previous cycles medications worked really well. I don't know what happened I feel sad and down.

Has anyone experienced the same?

So sorry to read your post , this must be so distressing for you Hope you get some replies that are supportive Has your clinic/doctor discussed with you they plan to do ? As they know your history ,results they should be able to give you some advice on how to move forward Also have you taken advantage of counselling that should be offered whilst on treatment ?

Thank you for your reply . I changed clinic and I explained him that I have never experienced this. He said it is age related. Your ovaries were responding but are not any more.

The Dr was a bit blunt, not very sensitive at all. Where you on different meds last time? Could the new place ask the the old clinic? There must be a paper trail of some kind. X

I'm sorry this happened but I would take the age diagnosis with a bit of scepticism- I didn't respond - at all - when I was in my mid 30s with a sky high AMH and lots of follicles, being predicted masses of eggs on low doses. They said my body 'ignored' the meds. I got a good number on the same meds but no down reg and higher doses about 18mnths later. Then I had two more rounds - one a good number of eggs and they all fertilised and then at a different clinics they messed around with the protocol (still same meds though) and I got one. Then got pregnant very soon after naturally - so nothing wrong with quality. I think each round the number of follicles and your response can be very different - that's also been the case with younger friends and family doing egg banking and one month they got 15 follicles, another two or three (so would cancel the poor response round and wait for a better response). I also found one ovary is lazier than the other and as you naturally switch, the months where my lazier one would have been releasing the egg tended to be poorer response overall. This makes the whole thing less certain and more complex, but I would definitely be asking for a more thorough debrief and maybe a second opinion as I think the age diagnosis is a bit lazy tbh, especially if you've responded in the past.
