Has anyone been told that they can not have IVF because the clinic can not access their ovaries?

Because of severe endometriosis

Hi Emma, one of my ovaries was hidden on my second round and they just said they would access it through my tummy so not sure if that would be an option for you?

That could be possible however I have a frozen pelvis therefore there is a risk that my bowel might be attached to my ovary but not sure. Was it painful through the tummy i.e. was it a laparoscopy to extract the eggs?

Well when it came to egg collection the ovary appeared so they did it normally, but either way they give you sedation so you wouldn’t feel it xx

I only have one ovary as had one removed due to endo. My remaining ovary is stuck to the utersacral ligament and the bowel is also stuck to the uterus. We had no problem with access.

They do a baseline scan to check if they are going to have an issue with ovary access before you start treatment. They access them vaginally usually.

Hey Emma hope you and the baby are doing well. We chatted one day a month or so ago! Thanks for letting me know I’ve been ‘warned’ there could be a problem by the fertility clinic but they didn’t do a scan.

I remember. Still a few weeks left for me though.

Have they booked you in for a baseline scan? Usually done something like day 4 to 7 of your cycle. You’ve got two ovaries and the follicles grow all over the ovaries so hopefully they can get access to some if not all on EC.

Are you starting a cycle soon?

I have to have surgery for endo first then will start IVF probably early next year now. My endo consultant and fertility clinic are using a joined up approach so I don't have any gap in between which i hope will help.

I was so worried mine would be caught up in my endo this round but thankfully they found both and we were ok. Best of luck xx
