Which test to use 🤔?

Hi all,

So today is our test day. We did test early the other day and had a BFN. Today we tested first thing this morning and got a BFP with a clear and simple digital test (the results show as += BFP, and a - = a BFN).

Taken another test a little later on with a clear blue test that tells you how many weeks pregnant you are and that has come out with a BFN. Tried to do a bit of research on false positives and they're unlikely unless you're testing early (which were not) or have had HCG hormones in blood still from something like overtrell but we had FET so none of that. Anyone else had a similar experience of different brands saying different things/giving false positives. We just don't want to get our hopes up . TIA x

Hi Sarah. Whispered congrats. I think it would be worth speaking to your clinic for HCG bloods. If your OTD isn’t very early ( some clinics do earlier than others) normally would expect HCG at a point post expected period to be high enough on any test at any time of day.

Everyone is different and every pregnancy different in terms of HCG level so I am hoping all will be well. But I have had issues with faint positives and low HCG in past and it turned out to be an early miscarriage one time and an ectopic pregnancy another time. It is definitely best to speak to your clinic for more advice. I had an earlier scan arranged with my ectopic pregnancy to check where the pregnancy was given my HCG was low and slow.

Crossing fingers all turns out well for you x

Thank you for your reply. I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. We will test again in the morning with a different brand when HCG is supposed to be highest. But can talk to the clinic too, this is a good idea.Thank you, trying to remain hopeful but it's very difficult to do so when it's all so confusing. 😕 X

I hear you. I thought finally seeing a positive would bring relief and didn’t dream it would be the start of a whole new anxiety induced fest. Hope it’s clear and you can breathe easy and enjoy soon x

Yeah I know, it's very anxiety inducing when it's not clear 😞. Thank you x

hello x in my opinion digital tests are the worst, I had a negative first response digital at 9 wks & I was 100% pregnant & am currently 22 wks pregnant ! On several occasions they caused me concern especially with the weeks, my clinic told me not to use them & stick with pink dye tests. Just reading other comments & I’ll also add my FMU never gave the strongest lines on non digital so I don’t think that’s the case for everyone. Wishing you lots of luck x

Thank you but after a weekend of doing various tests and going to my clinic yesterday for a blood test, it was confirmed that I was never pregnant 😔. However, I won't be trusting digital tests again and I certainly won't be trusting clear and simple in any way shape or form! X

I am so sorry to hear that, the digital tests can be cruel x wish you lots of luck for the future with your journey x

hi, how many days past transfer are you? If it still early day 10-12 then it just might not have shown yet but if it’s beyond that I would have thought even a non first morning pee would have shown on the week’s indicators BUT those tests are the work of the devil so I wouldnt trust them! It might be an idea to collect your urine in sample bottle and get a few different tests (defo a pink dye early response one either a FRER or the boots version) and try them to see what they say. Good luck xx

I was 11 days post transfer when I tested. But even testing on day 13, with a blue dye line test (couldn't get hold of pink ones) there was nothing. I went to my clinic yesterday for a blood test and results confirmed that I was never pregnant 😔. Xx

I’m so sorry I’ve had a false positive before (on a clear blue) and it’s just not fair! I have been using only pink dye and digital ones since xx

Boots early pink dye tests are really good if you can get some of those. They are like the FRER. False positives I think are rare so I’m 🤞🏼 for you that it’s BFP 💖

Thank you and I'll bare this in mind for the future. Unfortunately futher tests and a blood test at my clinic have confirmed I was never pregnant 😔. Unfortunately I am a very rare case. My body very much over reacted on my fresh round making g me very poorly after it failed and now I have a very rare false positive after my FET😣. No more frosties and so back to square one 😔.
