Solo mother by choice

I'm just starting my journey, and when I say JUST starting my journey, I havent had a fertility test yet. I'm 30, 31 in April, and coming off my pill in the next month. Was anyone else on the POP and how long did it take for your periods to come back to normal? The reason for not coming off it sooner is because I suffer with awful periods and I have a 50 mile walk/run at the beginning of April. I'm not really sure the point of this post, other than looking for some like minded male/females who have embarked on this journey as a solo parent or those who are also were I am now.

Hi! Just to say very best of luck! Just been through one IVF journey, which gave me a beautiful baby girl (it did take three rounds of trying, so try to see it as a journey and not to set the expectations too high for the first round). I recommend reading 'It all starts with the egg', I found some really helpful advice there on supplements, dietary and lifestyle changes.

Thankyou so much for your reply. I'm trying to remind myself that if I'm not successful first of all then that's ok. I'll have a look at the book, I've been listening to podcasts a lot.

Congratulations on your baby girl 💗

I was on the combined contraceptive for 6-7 years, switched straight to progesterone only pill for just over a year because of headaches. When I stopped it I got my period 3 months later. I was on the pill to control painful ovulation (not just pain, fever diarrhea etc). It turned out to be an autoinflammatory condition in the end and hormones were triggering symptoms.

Good luck!

ahhh you’re a young one 😃 so as long as everything is okay down there and you have periods it looks good. Good luck with your journey! All the power to you for doing it alone 💪

Hi - I'm a solo mum by choice, little boy is coming 2 in May (donor sperm IUI which took 4 attempts). I've been trying for a sibling since August (3 IUIs + 1 IVF), waiting on starting my second cycle any day now. Happy to chat if you have questions. As other poster said be prepared for a journey.

Great that you are starting now and am sure you will be successful:) If I'd had advice when I was 38 it would be to read Rebecca Fetts 'It starts with the egg" and go and get some baseline blood tests to make sure your hormones are at optimal levels - something my clinic never bothered to advise me on but now am spending alot of money on vitamins, supplements and food to correct! Good luck :) xx
